I am impressed. I watched some of Bledsoe's throws. Impressive to say the least. This guy is a born leader, something the Cowboys have lacked since the departure of Troy Aikman in 2000.

I allready like Drew Bledsoe. And I am sold. Yeah, yeah. It is only day one of TC. But you can't help but root for a guy who has a major chip on his shoulder and who is eager to lead this team to the playoffs, and prove all of the critics and fair weather fans wrong.

Nors... I may need your help on this one. But from the looks of it, Drew is more than capable of leading this 2005 Cowboys' squad. This guy is the ultimate leader.

Fletch,

I am surprised how many Cowboy fans have a lack of confidence in him. This man may be the best "Bombs-Away" QB Dallas has seen since Dandy Don (or even ever).

He doesn't have Aikman's accuracy or Roger's come-from-behind notoriety, but he does know how to stretch defenses. This should play right into the hands of both Jason Witten and Julius Jones.

If the offensive line improves like I think it will, then Dallas will definately average scoring in the twenties.

If the defense improves like I think it will, then the Cowboys will have even more scoring opportunities. Meaning that there will not be a team out there that the Cowboys cannot go toe-to-toe with.

Let's see:
- A QB that can stretch the field and played pretty well in Super Bowl XXXI).
- An improved offensive line.
- A sophomore running back that can hit a hole almost as fast as Tony Dorsett.
- Improved depth at running back.
- A highly addressed defensive line and secondary.

Yeah, I can see why Cowboy fans are excited.

This is very good to hear Fletch. I for one am a little nervous about how Bledsoe's going to do here. This helps somewhat. Thank you.

Parcells has said that he is going to blitz him a lot during training camp and hopefully that will help his happy feet. Unfortunately like some other veteran QBs like Kurt Warner, he has taken so many hits once he hears footsteps he panics.

My only gripe is that he is yet another retread on the downhill side of his career. I do like him better than the last retread though. A lot better.

A guy who just turned 33 in Feb, I would be more inclined to say that he is in his prime year for an NFL QB, which is 28-32. Talk to Mr. Elway, he won two SuperBowl titles at age 35 and 36 because they finally put a team around him. Put that same Elway on last years Bills team, and see if he wins anything.

I never cared for him, but I don't want my enjoyment of the season to be diminished by old prejudices. Plus I want Henson, because I foresee the Giants being set for a decade or more now, and pulling ahead of us. McNabb is still relatively young - Philly will get another eight or so years of franchise QB play out of him, and I think by the time this season is out, Gibbs will have his draft choice out there as well.

So a lot of it is about long term divisional competition, and rank, bitter, poisonous jealousy :)

But I am fully on board with Drew (for) now. I admire the way he has handled himself in Dallas, and I do want to see him cast off the baggage of being tossed out by two AFC teams. I have more faith in Bill to break Drew's bad habits than in all Bledsoe's prior coaches, and I KNOW he is an upgrade over poor Vinnie.

I am trying to get over my fundamental disliking of 'elite' quarterbacks who never seem to think they have to work as hard as the next guy, my resentment that when Kraft and Mumbles were persecuting Terry, Bledsoe showed no public signs of support for him, and my preference for a Favre type field general personality.

I want to not just support Bledsoe, which I sincerely do right now, but BELIEVE IN HIM, and even LIKE him. And I am working hard on doing just that. :)

He just has to meet me half way. By winning...whether it's dramatically or by bus driving...winning and keeping us in it while the new D is struggling.

(LOL, how's that for fan egomania?) :)

Good points Bluewave...
Too many fair weahered fans, seen to think its all on the QB...

Even last year blaming VT for all our woes on D...
I guess they wanted him to play FS too & rush the passer?

I've been saying the same thing since the day we signed Bledsoe.

I do however, (fingers crossed)feel he will do the job until Henson is ready to take the reins.

I have more faith that Bledsoe will be able to do the job, than I do faith that Henson ever will. you act as though Henson is an automatic.

No, not automatic..........just praying that he is the future because if he isn't we find ourselves falling farther behind the teams in our division at the QB position.

I could care less for Bledsoe.....not a fan of his....just like Vinny. I will cheerr for him only cause he is a Cowboy....I much rather see Romo or Henson start this year.

We keep putting in retreads to achieve a 8-8 record....doesn't make sense for me....

I have no problem with Bledsoe at qb and I'm actually pretty excited about it.

This is easily the best qb we've had since Aikman. Probably not saying much, but it is a step in the right direction.

Bledsoe looks to be in fantastic shape. I see no reason, with our offensive line and running game, and with our All Pro TE, that he can't have a very good year.

I just hope we have the deep threats to really maximize Bledsoe's strength. Glenn and morgan can go deep. I've seen Crayton do it once, Washignton ( :) ) Other than that, we may be hard pressed to really stretch defenses. That really seems to be our only achillies heel on offense.

I like Drew Bledsoe and always have. He has always been a leader and just happened to find himself in a bad situation in NE with an injury and a young stud who has proven to be one of the best in the game behind him. I like that in that year that he lost his job to an injury that he came back and played well in the AFC championship game to get them to their first Superbowl of the Brady era. Had he not played well in that game the Pats would not be what they are today...Winners of 3 of the last 4 Superbowls.

As for his time in Buffalo I don't put much credence in what happened there. Bledsoe had a 4000 yard season his first year there but had no help from the rest of the team.

Then he had a sub par year the next year with a new HC and the worst coach in the NFL, Kevin Gilbride, for an OC. Of course Bledsoe's detractors will say it wasn't the OC's fault he wasn't out on the field playing the game he was only calling the plays and designing the game plans. I say a QB can only overcome so much.

Then he had a pretty good second half of the season after getting used to yet another new HC and new OC. He got them back to a respectable place by the years end. Again his detractors will say it wasn't him it was the running game and Drew did nothing. I say nothing but lead a winning team.

Ok so Bledsoe is maybe not Mister Personality with his cool and aloof manner. But he ahs been a winner or at least done his part to make his team a winner wherever he has been. He is a leader on the field and he has one of the very best arms in the game. Bledsoe now has weapons around him in Julius Jones, Jason Witten, Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn toping the list. If our OL gives this man some protection and with a running game to keep defenses off his receivers a little he will shred defenses.

He's still a retread. Meaning he's being recycled from another team rather than homegrown. I've always liked him, but that doesn't change anything. I prefer players I can relate to or identify with. Always have. There are players who become exceptions to that. Glover has. Deion did. Novacek did. Haley did. I'm not saying Bledsoe can't.

I'm sorry but that's nonsense. No one is acting like Henson's automatic, they're just excited about his potential.

I rather judge him while he's here. We're due for some good QB play maybe this is the time, we shall see

Lets also remember what Sean Payton did with Kerry Collins in New York. He turned his entire career around. Collins is expected to be one of the leagues best QB's this season with the cast that sorrounds him. Bledsoe is very similar to Collins in many ways. The difference is, Bledsoe doesn't need completely rebuilt like Collins did, he just needs a quick tune up.
