Bledsoe on the road:

66/12 (.59) 937 yards 7 TDs 5 INT (88.3 rating).

Decent. Now look at his home numbers:

90/132 (.68) 1082 6 TDs 1 INT (105.3 rating).

Amazing at home.

I guess that means they better get home field advantage in the playoffs.

What's interesting is, I believe even the road QB rating is better than his career rating.

Actually, those stats don't give Drew enough credit for his road performance, his pick in Oak was on a hail mary at the end of the half. If you just take out the hail mary attempt and subsequent int, his rating jumps to 92.8.

I've never been a huge fan of the passer rating -- it counts the hail mary INT the same as the game ending INT in seattle. The pass in OAK was meaningless -- the one in Seattle was huge. The stats don't account for that at all.

88.3 is almost pro bowl level. I'm sure his career rating isn't this high.

Drew is probably a candidate for comeback player of the year.

Why? He had a decent year in '04. Almost 3000 yards, led his team to a 9-7 record. A passer rating of 76.6 (consistent with his career average), 20 TD to 16 picks.

You can't be comeback player of the year if you played well the year before.

But nobody considered him to be playing well. How many other teams were offering him a job when Buffalo released him? You must remember how his signing was perceived.

Buffalo was 3-13 in 2001 before Bledsoe.

Then they were 5-3 in 8 games with Drew, and complained that he finished 3-5, but 3-5 is still 2.8 times fewer losses than 3-13.

Now Dallas was 6-10, and hopefully will be 6-3.

And Buffalo just might end up back at 3 - 13 this year without Drew. ;)

actually a ton of Buffalo fans though he was playing well - and that their O-line sucked.

how could you know how many teams gave him a job offer -- I recall we signed him almost immediately after he was cut by Buffalo.

The announcers mentioned it during one of our games. This was the only place he was given the starting job. He wanted to start and we were the only team telling him he'd be the starter. But maybe the announcers made it up.

That statement the announcers made is just BS - Buffalo announced Drew's release on 2/17 but didn't officially cut him until a couple of days later -- we had Drew under contract on 2/24. He was unemployed for under a week. Suggesting no interest in him is silly considering how quickly he went off the market.

More likely is that Drew was so interested in Dallas that he didn't pursue other teams -- During his signing press conference he told the press he knew if Henson or Romo outplayed him he'd be sitting -- He didn't believe he was the starter no matter what. Drew saw a good situation -- and one where he clearly was going to beat out the backups.

I agree he definitely had other options to start on other teams just none as good as dallas.

So if we were the only team interested you believe it would have taken longer to sign him? It only takes one team to get a guy off the market, and by most accounts the only team interested in Bledsoe was us. Why would we wait, regardless of whether or not their was other interest? Parcells saw a guy he coached, who he felt could still play, and he signed him - I'm surprised it actually took a week.

Drew was a missed FG away from winning 7 straight last year and making the playoffs. Had he won that 7th game Buffalo likely would have kept him. What might have been...
