What's interesting is, I believe even the road QB rating is better than his career rating.
TheHustler said:88.3 is almost pro bowl level. I'm sure his career rating isn't this high.
Drew is probably a candidate for comeback player of the year.
abersonc said:Why? He had a decent year in '04. Almost 3000 yards, led his team to a 9-7 record. A passer rating of 76.6 (consistent with his career average), 20 TD to 16 picks.
You can't be comeback player of the year if you played well the year before.
big_neil said:Buffalo was 3-13 in 2001 before Bledsoe.
Then they were 5-3 in 8 games with Drew, and complained that he finished 3-5, but 3-5 is still 2.8 times fewer losses than 3-13.
Now Dallas was 6-10, and hopefully will be 6-3.
JDSmith said:But nobody considered him to be playing well. How many other teams were offering him a job when Buffalo released him? You must remember how his signing was perceived.
abersonc said:actually a ton of Buffalo fans though he was playing well - and that their O-line sucked.
how could you know how many teams gave him a job offer -- I recall we signed him almost immediately after he was cut by Buffalo.
JDSmith said:The announcers mentioned it during one of our games. This was the only place he was given the starting job. He wanted to start and we were the only team telling him he'd be the starter. But maybe the announcers made it up.

abersonc said:That statement the announcers made is just BS - Buffalo announced Drew's release on 2/17 but didn't officially cut him until a couple of days later -- we had Drew under contract on 2/24. He was unemployed for under a week. Suggesting no interest in him is silly considering how quickly he went off the market.
More likely is that Drew was so interested in Dallas that he didn't pursue other teams -- During his signing press conference he told the press he knew if Henson or Romo outplayed him he'd be sitting -- He didn't believe he was the starter no matter what. Drew saw a good situation -- and one where he clearly was going to beat out the backups.
