If there was any confusion about Jerry Jones' expectations for his team after the press conference that kicked off training camp -- and there was -- he set the record straight on the Alamodome turf after Saturday afternoon's practice.

"Our team is one that has as much talent as you can put on the football field," Jerry said while pontificating about how great it is for the fans to be able to watch the Cowboys' practice.

Just to be clear, I asked Jerry to clarify his expectations for the 2009 Cowboys.

"I said my expectations were a team that can be where you or everybody else thought they could be last year," Jerry said, setting the Super Bowl as the bar.

yes....I am ONE of the fans that wishes like heck he would just let this team take it ONE game at a time....he has done it HIS way for so long now....perhaps a different approach is needed? Not saying he should NOT feel this way....just wished he would allow a team that had PROVEN they are mentally fragile to PROVE they are winners befor PUBLICLY declaring them that!

Watch the interview. Jerry does not come off like a jerk in this at all.

I get him with the best of them and I thought Jerry was genuine in this and he sounded more like a legit NFL owner who just wants the best for his team.

To me there is no doubt that PHYSICALLY we are as talented a team as there is in the NFL. BUT we have never performed up to the level of that talent. For a while in 2007 it seemed like we were close to it.

He's right. We do have the most talent on the field in the NFL. Now putting it together and executing is another story. That's where the coaches and leaders have to come in.

He's been spending money on this team forever. It's time for the team to help out there boss for once!

Let's win a playoff game first, but I will never speak badly of Jones he is just a highly optimistic guy. He was a major part in giving us three superbowl trophies and an incredible stadium. Enough in my book.
