Bob Knight implies Parcells left because TO

Take it for what it's worth, I still thought it was interesting to hear this but Mike and Mike on ESPN interviewed Bob Knight the other day. As most of you know, Bob Knight and Bill Parcells are best friends and have known each other for 40 years. Knight implied that Parcells left because he couldn't tolerate the distractions caused by TO and found it difficult to coach in that situation.

If one player can make a head coach retire, then that coach needs to retire. Job pressure and distractions came with the job and Parcells knew that coming in, which is why he was paid so well. My Father told me once when I was growing up, "Don't ever feel sorry for someone that makes more money than you do."

ESPN made reference to the Knight comments on BP and TO...

I didn't take it that Knight was necessarily saying that BP retired because of TO...

It sounded more like Knight was slamming TO ...basically saying that no Coach should have to put up with a player that causes that much friction or controversy... just my take.

I read the report, and Knight said that the main reason Parcells retired was because of TO's antics.......but it it wasn't the only reason.

It's very difficult for me to believe BP quit because of one player. On the other hand it's very easy to believe what Romo said that the HC job was a 12 month job in todays NFL and BP didn't want to go thru that any more.
