He is not predicting that those will be the cowboys picks, he is not doing a mock draft.

I understand that, and I appreciate the work he put into it. Who knows, they both might be great. It'll be interesting to see in 5 years if his analysis was right or not.

I realize he is saying what he would do and not necessarily what the Cowboys would do, but I'm not passing on Ryan Shazier at 47 if he's there....though Teddy B would be a nice consolation.

Based on his reasoning, Martin and Hageman would be there for the Cowboys at #16 and #47. I'd take it!

Based on his reasoning Hageman would be the #47 player on the cowboys board, not that he would be there at 47 when the cowboys pick. There's a big difference between the two. This is just a team slanted, in his view, big board.

For instance I'd imagine that certain players are much higher on some boards then others. Looking at Dee Ford and Aaron Donald should show a lot of this. My guess is that most 3-4 teams would have Dee Ford higher then 45, as he profiles pretty well as a pass rushing 3-4 OLB, but he doesn't fit the LB mold of what a 4-3 team needs and is unlikely to be big enough to handle putting his hand in the dirt. Where as I have no doubt that for the Cowboys Donald is very high on their board, as he is a 3 tech that has excellent pass rushing skills, but he doesn't likely fit that well inside a 3-4 DLine.

I guess people want complete rankings, but it would probably be better for a guy like Sturm to just rank players in positions groups. It's really difficult to rank a QB relative to a DT or other positions.
