Bob: Does he know where he needs to be? It appears he is a “guesser” out there. That gets good sometimes, but bad more often. the td he allowed on Friday night was more of the same I thought. It looks like he needs someone to hold his hand out there. Scandrick does not need that at all.

Bryan: I said this the other day, I think he has wonderful God given talent which helps him make plays but I do agree with you, there is something to studying, reading routes and playing with awareness which I think he sometimes doesn’t do.

Broaddus does know that teams don't generally study film on the other team's players during the preseason, right?

Let's give Jenkins a chance to actually get the opportunity to study film on an opponent before holding that against him this year. I can understand that might have been a knock on him last year and coming out of college, but the indications from camp were that he's not the same player he was last year as a rookie.

Not a fan of the prevent D and most zones either, but it will remain in the play book, so if it is called, then it is up to the players to execute.

If Jenkins stays w/the WR a tad longer, or if Hamlin rotates to the WR sooner, it is a moot point. Jenkins as a young player does not realize that Hamlin is slow to react (or just slow period), as the vet and secondary leader I put the onus on Kenny.

I agree with you, Bat. Jenkins may have messed up some, but Hamlin was so slow. I don't think he would have got there anyway.

I do want to resign Marcus Spears.

He has been solid and durable.

Plus, those guys are hard to find, and he plays the strong side.

He's a strong run defender in a run division.

Bryan: I have to be honest about my LSU brother, he has been a huge disappointment. We didn’t have the right vision for him when we drafted him.

Bob: Safe to say that he is playing his last year here? Given Canty’s offer, I bet Spears will certainly be well compensated by someone. But the Cowboys have to know that it won’t be them.

Not a huge surprise to learn Jenkins isn't the most heady player. Not many first round caliber athletes get benched their junior years of college at mid tier programs. I've always disliked the pick for that reason. Luckily Dallas made up for it in Scandrick.

We should treat Spears like we did Canty.

Give him a fair offer and then let the market dictate his value.

Spears might be cheaper than Canty was, simply due to the role he's played and would likely play with someone else. But there is always some idiotic team that would pay him money and then pretend he could blossom as a pass rusher than the quality run stopper he is, especially if he gets more sacks than his average this year.

I have a feeling DL will be a need area in April. I don't have any confidence that Hatcher or Bowen is our future at either spot. And we all know what nose tackle has.
