Summary and Potential Fit For the Cowboys: It is a really interesting discussion because there is no doubt this is one of the finest football players in the draft. I just don't believe you take a non-pass rush linebacker this high 9 times out of 10. Jack is masterful at making tackles and covering guys downfield, but how high can that be valued unless we are confident he is Luke Kuechly's clone? In other words, he has almost no weaknesses in his game, but does he play a position that impacts your end result enough to justify at that spot? Can you take this position in Round 2 (Bobby Wagner, Sean Lee, Lavonte David) or Round 3 (Navarro Bowman) and find gems there?

If I am picking in the Top 5 (where game changers are available at nearly every spot on the field), I must make sure I am getting a premium player at a premium position. Now, if the Cowboys trade-back a bit, it makes all the sense in the world. I think he will be a household name for the next decade. I just don't believe in paying premium prices for a non-premium position. That said, Myles Jack is one of the more flawless players in this draft and there will come a point where someone with fewer needs to address might snap him up and haunt you with him for years to come.

So he could be your MLB who also covers slot receiver's for the next 10 years and you're worried about taking him at 4?, even Strum says he's a rare bird

Key issue is he smart enough to play Mike and can he hold up physically. He fits best as a chase Will LB and we have one of those.

Sometimes it is best to just draft guys with superior athletic ability that make plays. Get enough of them and they become better than the sum of all parts. I really like Jack and Cravens and even though they don't play premium positions I think they would make the perfect one two punch in the draft. I can just see these two running all over the field making plays.

Im weary of Cravens due to Taylor Mays but we are of the same mindset.

Or do we? Lee has never played a full season in his career. And he's getting older.

Draft him. It's not like our corners get turn overs, two ball hawking superb cover line backers (lee/jack) would be fun to watch. Does this scheme even allow for two stud LB's to flourish at the same time, or would it hold one back?

There are distinct roles.

If they take Jack, they are better off moving Lee back inside.

And that is fair. I just don't like the idea of starting Jack in the middle from day one. He has always had a lot of field to work with.

I get that, but isn't Lee better as a Will? Do we want to draft Jack if it forces one of those two out of there ideal position?

If Lee could take the physical piece, he would be fine in the middle.

I've already sort of crossed him off . I know the way this front office thinks. It's going to be a DE or DB @ 4 . I love Jack but it's not happening.

This is the 1st prospect that has jumped off the screen for me....:omg:

I have been "you gotta get a QB" guy from almost day one....Jack is the 1st guy that has given me pause and have to reconsider....

From the highlights I was watching today....He's not a a bad RB either. Runs hard. Question I have is ...Is he a 2 way player? and if he is...(And I think so)...that is a rare bird. You could be getting 2 players for the price of one.

And even if you don't think he should be a RB....that's a nice insurence policy knowing he could fill in if need be.

Boy...this is a tough decision....if he is there. I'm thinking he is gonna rise out of our reach come draft time....if on his pro day he runs a 4.5 or better.

This is what i dont like about Sturms writings. He's asking questions to things he answered himself. He's talking about premium posistion, if the tampa 2 the MLB is one of the most important parts because he's responsibile for the run and the middle in pass. Tjhat plays right into Jack's strengths. Add him with Lee and you have a duo IMO better than Keuchley and Thomas. Lee since switching to that new style helmet was actually playing ruthless without worrying bout them concussions. Because of the support it gave him. Jack makes too much sense for Dallas at 4. Sturm actually tries to find something wrong with Jacks game and he says lack of production but then says its because he wasnt asked to do that. Thats not lack of production, thats called not being asking to do it lol. Just like in Dallas he isnt going to be asked to blitz. At 4 there is nobody with a higher ceiling then Jack. I actually think after the combine Dallas might not even get the chance to take him.
