Making my custom game film for this week's Eagles at Cowboys game and I'm up to the part where Boger's crew ignored Anthony Hitchens screaming and signaling for a time out for almost 5 seconds, well before the ball was snapped on the Eagles punt.

  1. Philadelphia Eagles at 11:50
  2. 1-10-PHI 38(11:50) (Shotgun) 11-C.Wentz pass short middle to 18-D.Green-Beckham to DAL 50 for 12 yards (50-S.Lee). Pass complete on a slant pattern.
  3. 1-10-DAL 50(11:11) (Shotgun) 11-C.Wentz pass short left to 13-J.Huff pushed ob at DAL 41 for 9 yards (42-B.Church).
  4. 2-1-DAL 41(10:37) (Shotgun) 11-C.Wentz pass short right to 81-J.Matthews to DAL 41 for no gain (24-M.Claiborne). Pass on a quick out.
  5. 3-1-DAL 41(9:59) 11-C.Wentz right end to DAL 44 for -3 yards (59-A.Hitchens).
  6. 4-4-DAL 44(9:16) (Punt formation) 8-D.Jones punts 35 yards to DAL 9, Center-46-J.Dorenbos, fair catch by 11-C.Beasley. PENALTY on DAL, Defensive 12 On-field, 5 yards, enforced at DAL 44 - No Play.
  7. 1-10-DAL 39(9:09) (Shotgun) 11-C.Wentz pass short left to 81-J.Matthews ran ob at DAL 31 for 8 yards. Matthews rolled out of bounds.
  8. 2-2-DAL 31(8:45) 43-D.Sproles right end to DAL 16 for 15 yards (57-D.Wilson).
  9. 1-10-DAL 16(8:07) 43-D.Sproles right end to DAL 17 for -1 yards (95-D.Irving).
  10. 2-11-DAL 17(7:25) (Shotgun) 11-C.Wentz pass short right to 34-K.Barner to DAL 12 for 5 yards (50-S.Lee). Pass complete in the flat.
  11. 3-6-DAL 12(6:48) (Shotgun) 11-C.Wentz pass incomplete short left to 17-N.Agholor. Pass incomplete on a slant pattern; Carr closest.
  12. 4-6-DAL 12(6:44) (Field Goal formation) 6-C.Sturgis 30 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-46-J.Dorenbos, Holder-8-D.Jones. Penalty on DAL-24-M.Claiborne, Running Into the Kicker, declined.
  13. PHI 3 DAL 0 Plays: 10 Possession: 5:11
That fricken' drive shoud've been ended RIGHT THERE on play #6. Instead because the officiating crew didn't give Hitchens that time out, Philly drove on to the Dallas 12 before kicking a FG.

I know later on some people think the clock expired to end the 1st half and the refs shouldn't have put 1 second back on the clock so the Eagles could kick a FG to go up 13-10. But the replay shows that was the correct call.

Their refusing to grant the Cowboys a time out earlier in the game though, there's no excuse for that.

I need more conviction. More anger. So, your request for blame on the officiating is denied.

I may be wrong, but I think only the head coach is allowed to call a timeout. That's the technical rule, I believe.

I would not be surprised if this particular crew, given their penchant for attempting to follow the letter of the law, adhered to that rule enough though it's not enforced consistently.

And something I noticed while doing the game film for my thread here. On the play where Dak was intercepted, #27 of the Eagles had a blatant hold on Witten, keeping him from coming back to the ball as #58 Hicks got the interception. If he wasn't being held, Witten had a shot at running in there and contesting Hicks for the ball or at least knocking it away.

I DON'T WANT TO SEE BOGER'S CREW AGAIN THIS YEAR.

I think crews like this are part of the reason TV ratings are down.

No one wants to watch a game with one flag after another.

Also another week without knowing what the heck is a catch (Agholor before the half). I guess now it is OK to bobble the ball from your chest to your waist while out of bounds. I use to think you had to secure the ball while in bounds.

Bobbling is the new football move.

Now that I've gone over every single play from the 1st half multiple times, it's clearer to me than ever that blown calls by this officiating crew handed the Eagles 6 points on 2 FG's in the 1st half.

Not only did the referees not grant Dallas a time out when Anthony Hitchens was jumping up and down screaming for one for over 5 seconds before the ball was snapped, they hit Dallas with a 12 men on the field penalty which extended the 1st Eagles drive and ended in a FG.

Then there's THIS:

The Eagles receiver is juggling the ball as he's going over the sideline. He hadn't secured it and it was moving in his hands. This should have been an incomplete pass, giving the Eagles a 3rd and 10 on the Dallas 44 with 1 second left. Instead they got 3rd and 3 on the Dallas 37. They likely wouldn't have tried a 62 yard FG there and instead either done a Hail Mary or kneeled to end the half. Instead the Eagles made a 55 yard FG.

Boger's crew did seem to me like they all have short attention spans or something. They missed way too many plays that should have drawn flags and also threw too many flags that weren't called for. Generally, they appear a pretty inconsistent bunch. We've had problems with them before, according to what I've read lately. Anyhow, here's hoping we don't get them again anytime soon and definitely not in the playoffs, please.

I didn't think the crew was that bad. However, that was bad that they missed Hitchens calling for a timeout.

But it was refreshing to see a crew that wasn't going to allow pick plays and illegal contact. On the play that Williams broke up an interception, they did miss illegal contact, but I think they were diligent in trying to prevent that stuff.

After watching the horrendous pick play not get called against the Saints versus the Seahawks, makes you wonder if they'll ever see it.
