Booker named to All Rookie team

Wondering who all here will admit to screaming that he was a terrible pick (and not just because of positional value, but in general). A guard wasn’t my preference, but I was OK with it because I wanted a nasty-streak on the oline. His comments about making whoever he was playing against want to quit playing football was all I needed to hear.

The rook was our best lineman. Yes even better than Tyler Smith. Booker had some rough outings this year but grew each week. You could see his development and trajectory. Smith needs a bounce back year in 2026. As good as he is, he can be so much better.
I still say we should have taken a defensive player.

tyler missed games 4,5,6 and there wasn't much drop off in offense.

I wanted a defensive player. I think Tyler is going to be a very good RG, but that's not why you get to superbowl. our defense giving up 511 was horrible. imagine if we had Jalon Walker instead of Murray. or taken Kenneth Grant, or Walter Nolen, would we have made a trade for QW (and I really like him) and we still would have a 1st next year and 2nd this year.

I would gladly have drafted Grant or Walker (being an SEC fan from SC, I saw a lot of GA football). I would have drafted just about anyone who would have put Mazi on the bench (thus my Grant interest).

I would have rather gone with Bass or Hoffman and drafted a defensive player. he is a good player, but what's the drop off to Bass or Hoffman, vs. Murray to a legit LB or one of the top DTs. ofcourse people will mention Mazi Smith!!!
You're kidding the drop off is massive
I know you have your position and this will be an argument that will go nowhere but really the difference is All Rookie Team

anyone not seeing the drop off when Hoffman and Bass are in needs his eyesight checked

Knew he was a stud on draft night and all the interviews i watched. LOVE THE PLAYER!!!!!

It's also an issue when you continually value athleticism over productivity.
We all want the super athletic, juiced up speedy defensive player who understands the game and is instinctual, but those are the super blue chippers.

Give me the slower S, or the shorter LB or CB, or the DE with shorter arms who has actually been the most productive in college making plays week in and week out. Give me that guy over the CB who runs a 4.3 but can't find the ball or the LB that looks like Adonis but can't read the plays or a DE who is 6'6" and 275 who runs a record 20 yard dash but only had 5 sacks last season.

Draft the better athlete when all other things are even, but most of the time, just draft the dang football player who makes plays every week.
I mean some of these guys aren’t getting coached. And haven’t since Quinn has been here. You need a voice on defense

Cowboys rookie Tyler Booker was named to the @PFWAwriters' All-Rookie team on Tuesday. He's the first for Dallas since Tyler Smith in 2022.

Among all rookie OL with at least 500 pass blocking snaps, Booker finished third in pressure rate (5.9%) and allowed the lowest pressures (17) and second-lowest sacks (1.5) when left 1-on-1.

Good for him, this will just give Jerry more fuel he and Stephen are not in a “drought “

Agreed. The rest of them need to raise their level.

we had Martin. an all pro each year. future HOFer. where did that get us? RG is the least important offensive position after FB. I would have rather taken a defensive player.
Martin wasn't all pro his final few years regardless of what awards were handed out. After he went out, whether it was Hoff or Booker, the run game was instantly much better & the interior pressures decreased. The position is very important because defenses will keep exploiting a weakness.

Besides, with all our other holes on D, one player wasn't going to make a difference. At least not in the short term. We ultimately got a couple interior guys that we might not have if they had spent a high pick there so it may have worked out for the best.

He's a bad man and he has some nastiness to him. Between Smith, Beebe and Booker the center of the O-line is strong. Allowing Prescott to step up in the pocket instead of being flushed out wide. His days of out running pursuit are over. Yes I know, he was never a speedster :)

Congrats Tyler
Yes indeed, Tyler Booker is a bad man, I knew he was going to be, and as you say, so is Smith and Beebe. Dallas is stout in the middle, and they are only going to get better. This offseason sign 2 good offensive tackles one in free agency and one in the draft. Cut Steel he was a liability last season in pass protection; he simply cannot block speed rushers on the edge. He can't maintain a block long; Dallas needs better play at right tackle next season.

I'm sure many people still think we still should've drafted tj hockenson Jr.

you don't even know that!
If he can stay healthy, he may receive a gold jacket that is the caliber of player that he is and how hard he works. Booker has studied and practiced how to be the absolute best he can be on the offensive line since a young age, since he was a boy. How much will these 3-interior lineman Beebe, Smith and Booker improve as a unit after a full offseason together. Dallas should be set in the interior of the O-line for years.

Tyler Warren was a bit riskier. But I still think that's the vetter pick, especially in Dallas.
I remember I was right there with you on Tyler Warren as well, but Dallas got a good one with Tyler Booker. I was happy with the pick then and even happier now to have drafted him and to add him to Beebe and Smith on the interior of this offensive line. I would like to see Dallas trade for Tyler Warren in the future however if they got the chance to do so, he will be a special player in this league, an x-factor type playmaker at tight end.
