Bottom line: Will we be able to run the ball vs. NY?

My heart says yes, but.........I don't know guys. That front seven of theirs is tough. strahan, umenyora up front with pierce and kiwanuka at lb. My spelling on the names is off, it's late but my point is in recent years they've stuffed our run consistently. God I hope we come out and just blow them off the ball, but I'm just not sure we're capable. I think most everything Garrett wants to do is predicated on running well. Believe me, if we can do that to bring their safeties up: T.O. and company will have a field day. Defensively, its no secret either: we have to get after Manning. I'm quite sure Ware will command lots of attention so it's time for Canty, Hatcher, Spears, Fergie, James, Ayodele and the rest of that front seven to fly around and hit Eli in the mouth. If they do, things will go well. If not.........long night. :star:

The Giant's strength up front is the passrush. I think the Cowboys can maul them in the running game.

I don't think Strahan, at this point, will be worth a @4@!. He is not in "football shape." If we mix it up pass/rush-wise the right way, we really should be able to beat these guys. I don't view them nearly a threat as the Eagles.

Their DEs wont be a problem vs. the rush. I can see 150 yards by JuJo/MB3.

The Giants are traditionally difficult to run against. Last season they were 14th against the run and 28th against the pass but they were missing a lot of starters. Most of those guys should be back this year.

Our offense is built to be balanced but it is primarily run-first. Garrett will have to be creative and patient to get the running game going against NY. If we stick with it and are not predictable with it then we can have some success. Draws seem to work best against them and with Hoyte as the lead blocker that could work very well for us. I would actually prefer to see Barber running that play behind him than Jones, at least for this week because the Giants' ILBs are pretty good about staying home and Barber is better at breaking arm tackles than Julius is.

New York is always a tough matchup for us but we are the better team and should win this one but it won't be an easy win. Keeping the play-calling from being predictable will be the key to victory for us. If we can keep their defense off balance then they can't get into a rhythm with their pass rush or run blitzing. Romo's mobility will also help a lot.

I predict we will win 27-17.

We have a decided size and strength advantage. They have a quickness advantage. We need to figure out how to use our strengths against their weaknesses and minimize their advantages.

Coefield & Robbins are two strong DT's, however Riviera was not strong enough to consistently hold these two from penetrating.

The heavy blitz and overloads is what will be difficult.

we never run the ball well on them. They usually do not pass for alot of yards on us..

should be interesting. If we cant run tomorrow we cant win...that is the key to me..

The bigger question in my mind is whether or not they can run on us. Without Tiki they will have a tough time gaining yards consistently. If we can pressure Eli then our defense should keep them down and we can grind it out in the running game.

In the two games last year we struggled with running on them while they were able to gain good yards against us, particularly Tiki.

Oct 23 - NYG 36 / Dal 22
NYG 39 atts - 155 yards - 4.0 avg - 1 TD
Dal 21 atts - 69 yards - 3.3 avg - 1 TD

Dec 3 - Dal 23 / NYG 20
NYG 29 atts - 126 yards - 4.3 avg - 0 TDs
Dal 24 atts - 110 yards - 4.6 avg - 2 TDs

In both games, Tiki was their leading rusher while their other RBs didn't get many carries.

In the 2nd game Strahan was out as were a number of their other starters.
