The Bears can continue to use five-man zone pressure on third-down situations against the Cowboys, but they need to win one-on-one matchups on the edge and take away the intermediate throwing lanes to limit quarterback Tony Romo and receiver Dez Bryant.

As shown here, the Cowboys have their Posse/11 personnel on the field (three wide receivers, one tight end, one back) in a 2-by-2 Doubles Gun Far formation with running back DeMarco Murray offset to the open side. The Bears counter with their base nickel sub-package (five defensive backs), align in an overload front and blitz linebacker Shea McClellin off the closed side edge. Romo will work the two-level read to the open side of the formation to target Bryant on the deep dig route (square-in) or come back to tight end Jason Witten on the quick stick route to move the chains.

The blitz

basically the same game plan we have had....win one on one matchups, hopefully we see a heavy and i mean heavy dose of Murray, Randle, and Dunbar.

i dont see why its so hard to figure out if they are playing single high then you have quick routs towards the middle of the field, if its a cover two shell then RUN THE BALL WITH ALL RUNNINGBACKS AVAILABLE!! and tell them HOLD THE FREAKIN BALL!!

Bears defense in doldrums

The second phase of the Bears midseason review examines a defense that has not distanced itself enough from last season's debacle.

An intriguing mix of relatively old players and young prospects has not combined to form the consistently disruptive unit general manager Phil Emery envisioned.

On one hand, the Bears had five opening day starters 32 or older. On the other, Emery used four of the team's top five draft picks on defensive players in an effort to inject some much-needed youth and talent.

Through eight games, a mix of injuries and underperformance has affected the team's highest-paid defenders, such as linebackers Lance Briggs, cornerback Charles Tillman and defensive end Jared Allen.

Inexperienced linebackers Jon Bostic and Shea McClellin also have been injured, leaving questions about their development and whether the team should rely on them as part of its long-term vision.

isn't Kyle Fuller one of the hot names for DROY?

Dez always gets owned by the most random dudes

Say it aint so. The Cowboys have to wake up and get over the hump at some point. If they lay an egg tonight, I...just...can't.

Well we've already done half the battle for the Bears by letting them know pretty much exactly how we'll attack them.

No surprises coming from Dallas tonight.

He has 3 INT's and 3 Forced Fumbles this year, but most those came from the first 3 games of the year and most of those from 2 games. One against the 49ers and other from the juggernaut Jets offense. Since those first 3 games 0 INT's, 1 FF, 3 passes defensed. Pretty JAG numbers, hopefully we don't make him look like an All Pro tonight.

The bears given up:
34 pts to Det
55 and 38 to GB
51 to NE
27 to Miami

If we believe this offense to be elite.....they better score more than 24 pts. Our defense may be bad, but Chicago's is much worse.
