And people complain, and wonder, why every year teams from the SEC get so much love.

Talk about a kick in the pants for the mighty Big XII. Check it out - throughout the entire regular season, the Big XII South was tauted as being the strongest division in all of college football. In fact, it was given credit for carrying it's conference towards the top in terms of toughest conferences to play in. No such credit was given to the woeful Big XII North.

And then the bowls came...and look what happened:

BIG XII South: 1-3 bowl record (with Texas the lone victor in their come-from-behind victory over OSU).

Big XII North: 3-0 in all their bowl games.

Granted the North didn't face the same quality opponents like the South faced when they played but that shouldn't take away from the fact that they were still able to lead our conference to respectability by winning all of their games.

Very disheartening. :(

Looks like the Pac 10 is the best conference. I guess Pete Carroll is right.

Big 10.........

bwahahaha
I would contend that IF Auburn had been bowl eligible AND played Iowa instead of South Carolina, the Big Ten would have been 0-7 in bowl games instead of 1-6. Of all the SEC bowl eligible teams, Iowa got the weakest of the bunch. The Gamecocks were not as good as their 7-5 record suggested; and the Tigers, for all their stumbling this season, were not as bad as their 5-7 record seemed.

Depended on which Iowa team showed up. The one that lost to Northwestern or the one that beat Penn State.

I guess my next question would be is which Iowa team faced South Carolina in your opinion? The one which lost to Northwestern or the one which beat Penn State?

DENNIS, ANYONE?

Posted by Web_Anna
---I realize it is very difficult to defend my beloved BIG TEN CONFERENCE these days...but I do think something needs to be pointed out.
The Big Ten has always been one of the true power conferences in college football...and because of that...it has bowl tie-ins with the other true power conferences. It has always been a BIG on BIG mentality. So when every pundit and fan brings up the conference's 1 and 6 showing in this bowl season...remember...because of those tie-ins...the seven games were against 3 Big 12 teams, 2 SEC teams, the best of the PAC 10 (USC) and, arguably, the best young team in the ACC (Florida St.). Now, the Big Ten is not up to that task right now, no question. But, to compare the bowl record to the PAC 10's undefeated effort...go and check out which teams they beat up on. You will find 1 Big Ten team, 1 Big 12 team and 0 SEC teams.

---Speaking of the BOWL SEASON...how about my little six year old...KAITY JO DENNIS? Our great Executive Sports Producer Dandy Killeen puts out a pool every year called The Dandy Killeen Show. Like most bowl pools...you pick the winners...against the spread... and then put emphasis points...1 thru 34 on each pick. Over the years...sportscasting "experts" like Babe Laufenberg, Steve Dennis, Bill Jones, Gina Miller, Timm Mathews and Randy Sparage have entered...and many did this year. Didn't matter. MY LITTLE GIRL WON THE POOL THIS YEAR! Yep. Six years old.
And, I assure you, she made all the picks and point values herself. Somewhere around 150 entries...and MY LITTLE GIRL is the Champion!!
(Rumor has it, Dandy is asking the question..."Do I have the right Dennis hired here?")

---Who in the heck got PACMAN JONES booted off the Dallas Cowboys? What did he ever do to anybody?

---COMPARISON for you: The Cowboys get embarrassed in Philadelphia to end the season...and quarterback Tony Romo took a soft...life goes on type of attitude afterward. My Buckeyes lose to Texas in the Fiesta Bowl...with 16 seconds to play...and 19 year old quarterback Terrell Pryor
was devastated. He said something to the effect...he didn't go to Ohio State to get moral victories. How is it that Pryor "gets it" and Romo doesn't?

---PREDICTIONS: Carolina slaps Arizona...Baltimore nips Tennessee...G-Men get those Eagles...and Pittsburgh narrowly beats San Diego...
Jason Garrett takes a head coaching job and leaves the Cowboys...Jerry Jones will rue the day he let that happen...as long as Wade Phillips is the Head Coach of the Cowboys...the team will underachieve.

---PET PEEVE...radio talk show hosts that talk about what goes on in the Cowboy's locker room...or try to portray "the feeling" in the locker room...and they have never stepped foot in that locker room. Stop it. That makes you a fraud.

---The worst thing about the BCS NATIONAL TITLE game Thursday night? It means another college football season is over until September.

---I have serious concerns about wide receiver ROY WILLIAMS ever living up to what the Cowboys gave up for him.

---My position on TERRELL OWENS is a lot like my position on politics. I used to be hanging out there heavily on one side of the discussion...but over the years...find myself creeping more toward the middle. It has become obvious to me that the chemistry in the Cowboy's locker room has severely eroded since last May. How could... even the most vocal T.O. supporters...not blame him for a large part of that?

---Does anybody else feel like the whispering tough guy role played by CLINT EASTWOOD has run its course?

---Something nobody prepares you for in life: Now that I am pushing 50...every time I look in the mirror...I SEE MY DAD. No offense Clyde...you have always been a darn good looking fella (if I do say so myself)...but...you have always been....well....Dad.
When, exactly, did that...become me?

Happy 2009...lets make it a good one.
