Cowboys DBs coach Todd Bowles is a "strong candidate" to be the Dolphins' next defensive coordinator, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Bowles worked for Bill Parcells in Dallas and would make a lot of sense if Tony Sparano is named coach. Sparano will interview for the job Saturday.

Whatever good Parcells did for us, is flushed down the drain now. This was a bad decision by jerry, I hope he learned a few things from Parcells management style though. Like how to draft with better chance for success...etc

This is just getting pathetic. I thought JJ said something along the lines that if its not for a head coaching job, they're not allowed to even talk to another team? Or does that only go for guy like Sparano and Garrett?

Replacing the Denver Cowboys of the late 70's and early 80's.

Dan Reeves, HC
Charlie Waters, DB Coach

Aaron Kyle, CB
Butch Johnson, WR
Tony Dorsett, RB

Seems like there was a couple more too.

Kinda funny, though, how people said Parcells should've hired an experienced 34 coach as DC instead of Zimmer, and here he's about to hire a second guy who's never run it. (Or any other D.)

Bowles is a good secondary coach, I think, but would anyone else in the league hire him as their DC?

He can only go if JJ and Phillips want him to. If they see a better option out there, they will let him go. If not, they will deny the Dolphins permission to interview him.

A bit extreme, no?

I don't think Jerry can stop any coach from leaving for an advancement...it's not just for being a head coach. If you are the secondary coach and have a chance to become a coordinator, you don't need anyone's permission.

I don't get all the wringing of hands over these guys. Except for Garrett, every coach here is a holdover coach from Parcells days, from days when we all thought coaching was subpar. When I see Newman and both safeties going to the pro bowl and Henry having one of his best seasons with Dallas and Reeves having some good games as the 3rd corner, I personally have to wonder about the coaching of the secondary that seems to be our achilles heel. Other teams have secondaries with no one going to the pro bowl and yet they perform better.

Any coach can be replaced, and we might even be better for it. Wade's been around for a long time, and he seems like a good guy to work for. Good coaches should see Dallas as a place that is winning, has good players, a loyal owner who will spend money, and a great opportunity to advance their careers under a head coach who due to his age isn't going to be around forever.

I'd hate to see Garrett leave this offseason, but even if he does, we'll still be fine next year...as for all the position coaches, I look at it as good for them and a chance for us to possibly improve with some new blood.

This is incorrect, we are allowed to block any assitants from interviewing or taking any job except a head coach position. Remember when Wade was hired and San Diego was blocking us from talking to Stewart, and never did let us talk to their LB coach

Uh, no. He's taken our scouting director and probably our OLine coach.

Whether he takes Bowles or not is pure speculation at this point. People are acting as if its set in stone when it's nothing of the sort

At least Bowles has a few years experience with the 3-4 defense now. Zimmer didn't have any experience at the time. Its a moot point, Jerry doesn't have to give them permission to talk to him and Sunday is the deadline for this week anyway.

I believe Bowles and some other D coaches are on the last years of their contracts, so permission would not be needed AFTER the season.

You should give Parcells a call. He could obviously use your advice, since he has no clue as to what it takes to rebuild an organization.:D

Are you noticing what is happening here?

JJ is powerless to stop these guys from leaving if its a clear promotion.

A mega distraction going into playoffs. And Romo is in Mexico with Jessica Simpson. Wade and JJ need to reel this in fast.
