The Cowboys could be facing punishment from the NFL for negotiating with Mark Sanchez while he was still under contract with the Broncos.

The Cowboys were given permission to speak with Sanchez while the Broncos were still pursuing a trade but it appears the sides had already come to an agreement before his release became official on Saturday. Tampering can be a gray area but the Chiefs lost a third-round pick for similar negotiations with Jeremy Maclin last offseason. After being the odd man out in Denver, Sanchez will now open the year as Dak Prescott's backup in Dallas.

PFT pulls this crap all the time. Sanchez won't be signed until today. All the news was leaks, probably from Sanchez's agent.

No they aren't. They had permission to talk about salary with Sanchez and guess what, he hasn't even signed yet. The Broncos cut him and his agent called Dallas. They had already discussed contract numbers and both sides agreed to what they had discussed. No violation at all has occurred as he hasn't signed anything yet. Plus, Denver would have to make the complaint and since they gave permission to Dallas, that's highly unlikely. The only thing that happened here is Dallas corrected assessed that Denver would cut Sanchez so they never agreed to a trade.

I will say that tampering with a pending FA and one about to be cut are two entirely different things...

Why does the NFL think there was tampering, if Denver gave permission for the Cowboys to talk to him?

Yeah, it's staring them right in the face, but PFT would rather try to stir up controversy that's not there.

I highly doubt anything at all comes from this.

Yeah, I've been hearing about PFT for many years now, posting BS stories that have no merit at all. I'll believe it when a reputable outfit says so.

If the cowboys were given permission by Denver to talk to Sanchez, then this investigation is going nowhere....

Basically, they just come up with possible scenarios with no basis in fact and present them as news so that people will click on the story and they can sell advertising. Neither the NFL or the Broncos have said anything about this so there is no news here. Just someone's opinion that the signing happened too quick so Dallas must have tampered. Even though they report Dallas had permission to talk numbers with Sanchez which means negotiations would take all of a few minutes, they still take the side of possible tampering so that they can write a story people will click on.

Keep in mind that Florio is reporting it because he hates Dallas. Remember the supposed video of Dez in the Kmart parking lot = well where is? Where is the apology??

Thought it was a Wal-Mart parking lot.

I know a guy who's a die hard Eagles fan. To this day, he believes that there is a Dez tape out there, and JJ paid somebody off so that it would never see the light of day. SMH.
