Denver was trying to trade him. Dallas didn't want to pay his contract which was 4.5 million . If Dallas offered him a contract before he was officially released could be considered tampering.

Or maybe Dallas asked him if he would re-negotiate his contract if they traded for him and his agent said no, so Dallas decided to wait and see if he was released. It is all speculation, bottom line is they had permission to speak to him. This is nothing like what happened with Maclin, where KC spoke to him while he was under contract with out permission.

Denver gave them permission to negotiate a new contract with Sanchez in order to facilitate a trade. Therefore both sides were fully prepared to finalize a deal once he was cut. Dallas took a chance that he would be cut. Once he was they acted quickly. Good luck proving anything against the rules was done before he was cut especially since they had permission to talk to him.

Is this phase 2 of the royal league hosing? Phase 1 was when the Cowboys were fined 10 mil for breaking the salary cap in an UNCAPPED year.

I agree but was providing the info in why it's being questioned.

Denver allowed it because they were wanting a trade with Dallas not letting them set up a deal for when he was released.

I'm so sick of this kind of garbage.

Nobody was tampering with Mark bleeping Sanchez.

Anytime you hear someone ask Jerry about a player on another team he immediately says he can't comment about them...I doubt very seriously he would break out the contract while he is still with Denver.

They are one and the same. Dallas has a number they are willing to pay and Sanchez has a number he is willing to take. It makes no difference if it's a trade or a free agent deal. Once they were given permission to talk to him and the two sides come together on a number, it's then up to Dallas to either trade for him or take a chance that he won't be cut. Dallas took the chance and won. Once he was cut, it only took minutes to agree on the deal because they had already talked and both sides were on the same page. Once Denver allows another team to talk contract with one of their players and the team decides not to trade for him, they can only keep the player to keep him from the other team.

I understand but it's the timing in how it went down . Doesnt sound like NFL is going to place too much of an investigation because it's trivial . At most just a technicality .

There is no investigation, nothing was done wrong. Florio has pulled this crap before and people still get sucked.

Exactly, this kind of rule is a joke because so many NFL teams sign Free Agents ten minutes into the FA window opening. In those situations both sides clearly spent days in back channel communications.

The scenario is more like this. Jerry talks to Garrett, who talks to David Dunn. Dunn is his agent and the agent for Sanchez as well. Dunn mentions Sanchez and says he knows Denver wants to trade him to Dallas.

Garrett says "I doubt Jerry would want to pay him 5MM on his current contract, I can't see us trading for him. Something like 2MM is closer to what we are thinking for that backup QB position". At the same time, Jerry is turning down all trade offers from Denver knowing that Sanchez (or a guy like McCown) will get cut soon.

Denver tells Sanchez he is about to be cut. He calls Dunn, who immediately calls Jerry and says he will sign for 2 Million. Is that tampering or just an agent doing his job? Its the latter, and it happens every day in the NFL.

Keep in mind that Florio is reporting it because he hates Dallas. Remember the supposed video of Dez in the Kmart parking lot = well where is? Where is the apology??
Somehow, I can certainly envision Dez at a KMart. Or at a Cheesecake Factory or Ruth's Chris. That is what new money does, lads of playoff famine. I am a prime example, mate!
I think Sizzler is fancy, mates, fancier than a Manchester manners club having a high tea.
The shopping network is selling Maldives jars just right. I must take my leave.
Why do they hate us?
THEY CAN'T BE US!

Denver probably won't pursue it. Aren't the Front offices of both teams on pretty good terms with each other? They might not want to disrupt things over something so irrelevant (since the Broncos gave them permission to talk)

No we won't. He didn't actually sign until late today, well after he was released. Not to mention Dallas had permission to talk contract with him while they were discussing a trade with Denver. Dallas simply decided to risk that he would be cut and won. Once he was cut, it only took a few minutes to agree on a deal because there had already been discussions. Nothing even close to tampering occurred but people who didn't know all the facts decided to write a story about it anyway.
What about when we were punished for violating salary cap rules that didn't exist?

Actually, if you could prove that scenario took place, it would absolutely be tampering. They are discussing another team's player and salary. That makes it a clear case. In this case, however, Denver gave Dallas permission to speak contract with Sanchez so there can be no tampering.

Losing a draft pick on a Mark Sanchez signing may be a new low for Jerry.
