I'm surprised the media has not picked up this. We all know how BP likes to cut one player during training camp to send a message to all the players. Well it seems he likes to find a popular, productive and long standing aging veteran on a team he initially takes over to run them into the ground. Obviously this will send the message if he will screw with <aging vet> then he will screw with anyone.

Thoughts?

Zach = Emmitt?

Dunno.

Either way, Bill isn't cutting Taylor unless he is not producing on the field. He's a better fit than anybody that they have at the 3-4 OLB spot.

Lot of bluster, nothing really happening.

The media is all over it down here. I just called the radio station here in miami and sided with JT. All these fat tuna lovers down here are blaming JT because he isnt showing up to camp and showing leadership. Gimme a break. Parcells is the biggest liar and manipulator in the NFL and know that things have changed he's getting bent out of shape. Taylor dosent want to be in Miami and is using acting and dancing as leverage. He isnt going to allow parcells to dictate his future. I said it last week, barring a trade Taylor has played his last down as a dolphin.

The Miami media has, just not the Dallas media, cuz ya know he's in Florida now. For giggles, here you go...

Miami columnist takes Taylor's side vs. Tuna

I'm not a big fan of Jason Taylor's performances on Dancing With the Stars because my wife gets a little too giddy when he prances around shirtless. But Bill Parcells really, really doesn't like the best pass-rusher in Dolphins history dancing on national TV.

Too bad, writes Miami Herald columnist Greg Cote.
Tuesday finds the team back on the field. Except Taylor, who'll be back inside your TV anxiously waiting to learn if his season of sambas, cha-chas and foxtrots has been good enough to waltz away with the dancing crown. Wednesday, the Dolphins end their latest round of football preparation, but again sans Taylor, who hopes to be making the morning-after talk-show rounds that day with dance partner Edyta Sliwinska, basking in triumph, luxuriating in swelling stardom.

Meanwhile, back at Dolphins headquarters in Davie, club high-potentate Bill Parcells quietly bristles and boils, stews and seethes, over Taylor's continued absence -- over the very idea that a player on his watch might choose ballroom dancing over Tuna's definition of dedication. And get away with it!

What galls Parcells (picture the face of a man biting a lemon) is that a ''Parcells guy'' does not prance or pirouette in ruffled sleeves.

Miami's macho new boss once referred to a former player as ''she'' for far less.

The Taylor-Tuna tiff has been a slowly mushrooming South Florida sports drama for months now, and it is time to call it what it is:

Ridiculous. Embarrassing. Infantile.
I'm sure Taylor has T.O.'s support on this issue, too.

BP isn't the head coach of the Dolphins, he's not even the GM.

They deserve it, but I bet being all but invisible will wear on Sparano and Ireland and lead to some rifts among the leadership team.

Kind of funny to me that Taylor doesn't give a damn whether Parcells likes it or not.

Your are right. Parcells isn't the HC or the GM -- he's their boss.

Parcells learned this trick while he was coaching at some military college if memory serves me right. The drill instructor will single out the biggest, toughest dude, and bring him down. So, all the others will know who is boss and follow. Very simple, but effective technique(for the military). In football, it doesn't work today. The primadonnas know that the salary cap and signing bonuses are their job security and trump all. And it only leads to backstabbing, grudges, and lockerroom gossip, and Antonio Bryant-like problems.

I, for one, would have rolled on the floor laughing if Larry Allen would have smacked Parcells upside the head.

The point is that BP likes to use a vet to make an example out of when he first takes over the team.

When you go 1-15 you should expect it
when you go 5-11 three straight years you should expect it

Am I the only neaderthal that thinks it's just gay to have NFL players competing on Dancing with the Stars every year? If a Cowboy great ever did that, I'd be humiliated.

The cases between Larry Allen and Jason Taylor, however similar, are very different. With Allen, although effective and still one of the best, the whole offense sucked so putting an effective although not great guard in his place did little to change anything.

With Taylor, he is best defensive player they have by far. He has experience in both the 3-4 and 4-3, is in great shape, probably better than the last few years. He stills gets to the QB alot, still covers the TE and RB well and stops the run very well.

Parcells may want to make an example out of him, but Bill isn't stupid. He is not going to just release him. Trade him for picks, sure. Be mad at him, absolutely. But he (Taylor) makes the defense much better from a play standpoint and a leadership standpoint. That isn't lost on Parcells. Most might not remember, but Parcells was mad at Lawerence Taylor quite a bit but I seem to remember him being on the field every game.

Now Jason Taylor probably wants to be traded if the truth be known and to a contender which in all likelyhood will happen during training camp, but I can almost guarantee you it will not be to an AFC contender and he will not be released since the Jets and Patriots would jump at the chance to get him. Could you see the press on that. Even if it was San Diego or Pittsburgh, the press and heat would be a killer for Miami. But trading him to a Carolina or Tampa Bay or Dallas wouldn't be near the heat.

IMO, Dallas would be a long shot unless there is any truth to the deal that Parcells really wants Bobby Carpenter then we could possibly see something. That would lead me to believe that they drafted Walden to move inside behind James and Burnett behind Thomas then outside would be Ware, Spencer, Taylor and Ellis.

Would be a helluva a crew at OLB.

I have been saying this since the day parcells was hired there.

Jason Taylor does not like parcells.

Parcells does not like guys who dont fall in line.

These two have no chance it seems right now. When they actually start playing football that could change. For now, I dont see either one of them giving in.

It's Tuna's fault that Jason Taylor is 100% focused this offseason on beating Kristi Yamaguchi instead of Tom Brady? Wow ... just, wow. You would think by now I would be immune to completely illogical and hilarious Parcells bashing that's spouted off so routinely on this board, but this one takes the cake.

I have no problem with Taylor appearing on the show or starting a Hollywood career, just wait until you're retired and out of football to do it. Apparently Jason Taylor has already retired from football in his heart and his head and has moved on to start his new Hollywood career, he just can't walk away from one last huge payday (7.5 million in base salary) before he does it. So far he's shown in 0% effort, dedication or leadership to his employer this off season, but something tells me he'll have no problem cashing in 100% of his gamechecks.

The guy is missing voluntary workouts. That means he's missing weightlifting sessions. The guy has shown leadership the last 6 seasons when the dolphin organization has completly failed him. He won defensive player of the year 2 seasons ago and the team went 6-10. Spare me with the leadership and dedication nonsense. If taylor had zero value the fat tuna would have released him by now. Taylor realizes there is zero loyalty in the NFL and he's exploring all options. Taylor isn't some 6th round rookie whom parcells can come in and disrespect.

Parcells isn't blinking and neither is taylor that's why this is so fascinating. Parcells owes nothing to taylor and vice versa. I'm glad taylor is standing up to this overrated clown.
