BP and Players both to blame

Certainly BP deserves at least half of the blame; but lets face it people:
these are professional players- there is no way it should take their coach to get them up for a game like this one. THERE is no excuse for their lack of effort and mistakes. BP clearly did not prepare them well- and they CLEARLY did not want to play well. There is no leadership on this team on either offense or defense. Romo does not seem to be able to inspire the offense, and he was about the only candidate I could think of. On D, there is no one who seems to want to step up. Like many, I thought that James would but no go. Roy does not, and there seems to be no one else. We miss DAT more now then ever- he kept the LBs= who have been most of our problems the last month- up and committed and nasty.

I agree.

My problem though is...this is a Parcells' controlled environment. He's got no more excuses. They are his players; playing in his system.

When you want total control, you also take total responsibility.

So while I agree, the players once again played like dogs, these are HIS players. With the exception of Roy, every one of those guys on defense were brought in by Parcells.

With the exception of a Gurode, every one of those players on the offense were brought in by Parcells.

So, if we criticize how the players attitude's stink, let's not forget who brought these guys in here.

I hate seeing the absolute ZERO emotion displayed by our defense... I see people like Brian Dawkins going insane after a big hit or play, and their D becomes super-charged as a result... and I get jealous

everyone is going too far in blaming BP. Preparation and scheme- YES. Game time coaching- YES. BUT the PLAYERS are responsible for themselves being up and ready to give their ALL during the game. Did anyone see that yesterday?

I'm making a point though and it doesn't seem to be connecting with ya.

Yes the players looked like crap yesterday. I'm not suggesting otherwise. But....

Who's players are they?

Who brought them here.

If they are the kind of guys that need to be motivated for a game like yesterday's, then they shouldn't be here.

And my point is, who brought them here?

You could describe Dat a 1,000 different ways and downright mean wouldn't make the list.

I think the players are motivated but over_programmed. If they see exactly what they expect they play aggressively and down hill. But good coaches this time of year don't give you exactly what you expect. They add some little twist to mix you up. Our guys are so ingrained not to be out of position and always use good technique that they have to think when something new is shown to them. Bradie James, Spears, and Roy are especially vulnerable to this. They seem to always be a little late. I think you can actually see the gears in Spears' and James' brains turning.

I wasn't talking about his personality... I guess I meant flying to the ball and making the tackle one way or another. wrong choice of words on my part

I don't care whose players they are. They played uninspired against one of their biggest rivals in their biggest game of the past three years. That is on the players. BP and JJ need to bring in an emotional leader.

And lets face it Burm, he has everything he wants...the players he has are the one's he PICKED...the scheme he has is the one he INSISTED on

the blame time for players has come and gone...this seasons massive failure ride squarely on the guy at the top, and the top isnt Jones anymore

Parcells defensive philosophy is antiquated, the game has passed him by. He is too stubborn (or stupid) to change. We are a WORSE team right now than we were last year. Every year he has been here the team has got WORSE as the season wore on, not better. We've been humuliated in every big game this year, including two dreadful performances at home this month.

The writing is clearly on the wall, and it says in big three inch print

"Bill, the game has passed you by"

Yes. It's on the players.

I own my own business. If my employees don't "get it" it's either because I am not managing (coaching) them well...OR...that I made the wrong hire because no matter how much I coach, they're simply not going to change.

IMO, that's my fault. Period.

When I took the business over, I inherited employees. The malcontents are no longer here.

Everyone else, in one way or another, is my responsibility.

Coaches must put players in position to win. Coach Zimmer (and BP for that matter) seem to have an obsession with the zone defense. When you have the cornors we have, you should play more man on the outside and zone underneath. If you look at the games, Newman plays 10 yards off the receiver almost every single snap. The times he doesn't, he actually plays even better. The coaching staff doesn't give him a chance to shine by playing him in this fashion.

The defensive line has to get more pressure. I suspect we will need new players brought in during the offseason to compete for the job. I don't think Canty is going to make it in this league the way he is playing. I think Spears just needs more time. Without question, we have to have another pass rusher opposite Ware.

Our cornors are fine, Watkins needs to take command so Williams' cover skills arn't exposed as often.

Marco Rivera shouldn't return next year. He is playing the way Larry Allen played last year. Adams needs to work on his foot work also. If his agility is slipping, we had also better look to the future with him. (not saying drop him now, but he won't be improving for the future.)

I also wouldn't bring TO back either. While I was all for him this year even though it went against my rule of not signing high priced free agents over 30 years of age, it looks like he is on the downside of his career also as his abilities to dominate are clearly slipping. Injury or no injury. If a game is on the line, then you make the play. He isn't doing that.

Parcells needs to open up the defense a little. I know it lacks a pass rush, outside of the defensive line there is a lot of talent here. (Though I always said James was overrated last year and this year he is showing it)
