BP as Team Consultant?

I wouldn't mind that at all but not sure BP would be ecstatic with the idea since he has a residence in NY ready to move into plus he can go to the horse track everyday! I could see him as a consultant for the draft in Big D for a few month's prior to the draft but then return to NY where he would be available for further consulting by phone!

No Thanks....when he retires, he needs to get the hell out of Dallas. You can't have a former coach looking over the shoulder of the new regime. It usually doesn't work.
Parcells serves a purpose...but after he leaves, we need to hire a younger, more innovative offensive coach who will bring a different tone and approach, a new vitality. That's not a dig at Parcells, but the team will by then be ready for a breath of fresh air and a coaching staff that can get them over the final hump.

I agree, after bill parcells we definately need a new coach...but I was talking more about a draft - talent evaluator...this is a hypothetical question, like i doubt parcells would want to do even do this, im saying if he wanted to...he would have input with the new coach...just fa's and draftees...jones/new coach would go to BP whenever they thought necessary.

No way that the new coach would sign on knowing that BP stlil has some control in the team unless he is a Campo type.
I think the Campo type coaches of the Dallas Cowboys is over....at least I hope so. JJ learned his lesson and it'll be VERY interesting to see who the next coach is.

Jerry may think that he gained so much knowledge working with Parcells that he'll figure he can handle everything from here on out and get by with a low-key, low-paid, low-charisma coach who dances to the puppet strings. Perhaps, after feeling somewhat stifled for the past few years, he'll be ready to stretch his GM muscles.
What it will be is fun to watch.

I honestly don't want him anywhere near the team after he retires. I think of similar situations and I can't help but think of Bill Walsh in San Francisco. Now we're going to see something similar with Levy in Buffalo.
Stay involved, fine. Not interested in him as a consultant though. That's too much like looking over the replacement's shoulder and setting him for failure.

I don't think Bill would want the consulting job in the first place. He would make the head coach miserable. Stephen Jones & Ireland can handle personnel.
When Big Bill quits, I would love to get a younger coach in for a long tenure like Landry did, but I think that era has passed. Cowher and Fisher are two of the senior coaches in the league but are the exception to the rule. I like Fisher a lot. Classy. Hard nosed. No excuses. I wish Dallas could pull him away from Tennessee.
