Thought it was very telling in his press conference when talking about his earlier conversation with Reid. He basically told Reid he was lucky to have a Defensive Coordinator as good as Johnson. Hopefully this is a sign that he is done with Zimmer at year's end.

Or... it could be that he's simply complimenting Johnson on being a good D Coordinator?

So complimenting maybe the most creative defensive mind in the game = dissing Zimmer?

I'm sorry I missed the connection. Parcells complimented Johnson, how does that diss Zimmer.

Sorry, don't see that either.

As many times as Parcells has made comments to the media, you'd think people would get the idea that he doesn't deal much in double meanings. If he's congratulating Reid on his DC, that's probably all there is to it.

Maybe someone needs to start selling Zimmer voodoo dolls. It might be a nice revenue stream.

I guess one can read too much into that comment. BP complimenting Eagles DC while not saying anything about his DC. However, given the circumstances of a a rookie HC, all BP was saying was as a rookie HC, he needs solid coaches to help him out, that is what I got out of BP's comment, it had nothing to do BP's assistants.

By the way, he said that he was lucky to have a defensive coordinator like that as a young head coach. What he meant was that it's good to have someone like that when you're a young head coach, because it takes a lot of the stress off when you can focus on everything else knowing that your defense is taken care of.

In a backwards kind of way he might be saying that Reid was lucky but he in his latest stint wasn't lucky-- but I don't quite buy it.

He's quoting historical fact about what he said to Reid and at the same time complementing the opposition.

Of course, he could have said the same thing about his own defensive coordinator in the same sentence but he did not. The omission at worst means he doesn't hold Zimmer in the same regard as Johnson. Fancy that. But he's certainly not pumping himself up by saying "Reid was lucky, look at the tool I inherited...".

Thats not dissing Zimmer, however it could be Bill's way of challenging Zim to rise to johnson's level.

He was referring to the phone call he made to Reid when he took over as HC at Philly. His statement was, he was lucky to have Johnson as a DC as a 1st time HC, that most coaches of Johnson's caliber would not work for a new, 1st time HC.

Simple as that.

If anyone he'd be dissing himself because bill really runs the defense. Zimmer may call the plays, but Bill puts so many shackles on him that he's not able to call the game how he wants to.

Naw, sometimes Parcells speaks without a hidden message.

From the stickied PC recap thread.

Reid said you called him,
I didn?t know he was going to mention that, I really think a lot of him, I don?t know why, but sometimes, even if you don?t know a coach well, even though your rivals like with hogebrom (seattle) , I don?t spend a lot of time with mike or andy, but I enjoy getting to know him. When I was a young coach in this league, some senior coaches took time to help me, so I decided if I had opportunity to help a coach, I would do that, if someone reaches out to you, you do that, I think a lot of andy and reids first coaching jets, and his first coaching job,i told him your lucky I told him, you have jim johnoson as defensive coordiantor, a lot of guys cant get a guy of that caliber their 1st year etc. that?s how it started, the talking with reid.

isn't Zimmer still coaching BP's D compliment enough? BP doesn't have to go around complimenting everyone who's not favored by Dallas fans, for me to believe that he's happy w/ them

I have no evidence that he is happy, BP could just be waiting for the next D coordinator to come around, but I'm not gonna reach and say if he really did like Zimmer, he would have mentioned it

That's right -- Bill must have though a lot of the guy to hold on to him even though he had no experience with the 3-4.

of course his opinion could all change, but I haven't seen anything that warrants that thought
