BP is entering year 3 as head coach. off the top of my head, i can only come up with 7 players still on the roster that precede him (Flo, LA, Gurode, Ellis, Glover, Roy, Dat). Pretty amazing. No excuses for BP- he sure can't say he hasn't been allowed to shop for the groceries!

That is amazing:

In terms of drafts:

1994 - Allen
1995 - 0
1996 - 0
1997 - 0
1998 - Ellis and Flo
1999 - Dat
2000 - 0
2001 - 0
2002 - Roy, Gurode

Now consider that Glover and Allen are getting old, Ellis doesn't fit the scheme well and Gurode may be a FA soon - if he's not the starter he may be going elsewhere.

No wonder we have sucked for so long.

His mark is all over this team now.

He's got BIG, STRONG, FAST guys. And that's his style--the only thing or excuse I can give him now is, most of his guys are rookies.

the worst part of htat, since 1994, except for Ellis and Roy, not 1 1st rounder is still here. Granted we didnt have a 1st rounder for 2 years

It does look bad for sure but it would be interesting to see how other teams are doing in that regard. Obviously better than us but still I bet they are pretty bad too.

In any event, that is ancient history, I only care about the here and now.

No excuses for BP. Anyone still standing with him now can obviously play. I think he's got most of the groceries that he's been shopping for. Still a few items on his list yet, but he should be able to pick them up at the convience store on his way home. ;)

The only bad part is, BP is finally doing it his way--whereas, in 2004 he was not aggressive due to the "mirage" success he had in 2003.

Had he had the 6-10 record his first year here, by now, we would have an unstoppable army of Parcells guys.

That is truly sad.

I remember the ravens game last year where they showed the draft comparisons of the two teams over the last few years. The Ravens have multiple playmakers in those drafts. If they had a bus driver at QB they'd be a superbowl contender. Instead, they have Kyle Boller. Wierd they've done so well but then totally and completely blew it with the QB.

I truly believe that Jones has learned from his mistakes.

No, Jones won't admit he needs a GM, so what JJones has done is this. He keeps his title as the GM, but we all know who's running the show.

He has a true football man running the show, and we'll still give Jerry the Credit he wants.

Had Jones not elected to try to choose the players he wanted, instead of what a true pro GM would go after, we would not have fallen off so fast in the draft.

So thankyou Jerry for stepping down, it's just sad that we had to go thru this.

I think he has done an excellent job of bringing in the right kind of guys! If guys like Ware and Spears are the guys he is shopping for, shop all you want buddy, go get 'em!! I am very happy that we have made, and its funny to think that most of this progress was made in one offseason, not over the course of 2 or 3. It feels like our "rebuilding stage" happened in one big swoop, and now we should be good to go!! I have the highest of hopes for the upcoming season!!

JJ hasn't stepped down. Like any good businessman, he's learned from his mistakes. I think JJ is just trying to recreate that synergy with BP that he had with the other JJ prior to the explosion that occurred.

I'm not saying he stepped down from his "GM" name, but his position as a football man.

JJ thought he was a football guy after all of the super bowls and he found out he wasn't.

Instead of trying to groom guys for the next level like a good GM/football guy would have done, he tried to fix the leaks in the boat. He added sorry receiver after receiver to give Aikman someone to throw it to, instead of drafting really good WR's in the draft.

But oops! He couldn't draft good, because he didn't know what he was doing-- And I love JJones to death, but now we see what a real football guy can do in the draft.

It was noted by several sources, that JJ would over-turn some of the decisions on draft day on a particular person, because he thought he knew better.

Careful! Emmitt Smith made the 'trash' comment and several of his previous admirers tried to vilify him for it.

I'm expecting a good to very good season this year--which will cumulate into a mid-to-lower first-round pick next April. If so, I can see Parcells/Jones attempting to trade up for a linebacker, wide receiver or defensive tackle (in that order).

the trash comment was true, i think emmitt had earned the right to be able to talk that way. but ya i feel really rejuvenated over this years team as do a lot of people I think. I feel like weve finally put the Campo years behind us and moved on to bigger and better things.

Some of those picks had good careers, albeit not all of them with dallas. most of these guys are still playing in the league.

Jerry Jones is an egocentric moron and a self-made fool and he is still one of the main laughing stocks of the NFL and a supreme embarrassmment to the Cowboys and the NFL. His oil fortune came about not as a result of brilliant investing but blind luck and he has mistaken his blind luck for genius and has driven his club into the ground. He is not an honorable businessman, just ask Drew Pearson - I wouldn't do business with him on a bet. Just my opinion.

As long as he owns the Cowboys I will never attend a game or buy anything that would result in even one penny going to that scoundrel.

Yeah, I know, I shouldn't hold back like that.
