In one of the greatest offensive battles in recent NFL history, the Denver Broncos defeated the Dallas Cowboys, 51-48. Tony Romo and Peyton Manning combined for 920 passing yards and seven different players had receiving touchdowns.

The question is, what does this mean for the most unlikely of standouts: Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley?

Beasley caught four passes for 47 yards, also scoring on a key fourth-quarter touchdown to give Dallas a late 48-41 lead. It was a big moment for the Cowboys but a genuinely monumental feat for Beasley.

With his team in need, the former Southern Methodist star stepped up with his first career receiving touchdown.

As exciting of a moment as that may be, it's also a telling number.

Beasley, 24, has promise as a slot receiver who could potentially be valuable in point-per-reception fantasy football leagues. Despite standing at 5'8", 180 pounds, Beasley is a quick player who can work his way into openings and move the chains.

Seeing as Beasley now has 23 receptions in 13 career games, however, it's far too soon to label Beasley as a rising fantasy football star. In fact, it's too soon for any fantasy football owner to gamble on Beasley in any fashion.

He's a player who owners should keep an eye on as the season progresses, but until he plays this well on a consistent basis, Beasley is a virtual untouchable. Miles Austin will return from injury, Dez Bryant is a star receiver and Jason Witten will eat into Beasley's targets.

Monitor his progress, but until further notice, Beasley is a player to avoid gambling on in fantasy football.
