The former Arkansas Razorback had his best game of the season against the New York Giants, surpassing the century mark for the first time since a 129-yard performance Sept. 15, 2013, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Third-stringer Christine Michael had his best game of the year, although it wasn't good enough for you to jump to the waiver wire and add him to your roster.
Here is a look at how the two backs compared in Week 7 with Randle's limited action:
Randle will remain out Sunday with the oblique injury he suffered against the Giants when the Cowboys host the Seattle Seahawks, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.
This is good news for McFadden owners.
The Cowboys seem to be happy with McFadden moving forward, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.
Of course, running the ball against the Giants is a little easier than against the Seahawks. Yes, Seattle's 3-4 record is nothing to brag about, but it is holding opponents to 94.1 rushing yards per game compared to the Giants' mark of 113.4.
McFadden is still worth a fantasy start, especially if you are dealing with byes or are thin at running back, but don't expect a repeat of Week 7 this week. In limited action before his explosion against the Giants, McFadden had a whopping 129 yards on 37 touches, good enough for only 3.5 yards per carry.
At this point Michael still remains someone to stay away from in nearly all fantasy formats. His five carries against the Giants may have more than doubled his season total coming in, but the fact he had only two carries before the game is a red flag.
Fellow running back Lance Dunbar suffered a season-ending injury in early October, but it hasn't resulted in an increased workload for Michael. The third-year back out of Texas A&M has never found the end zone in his career, so only take a flier on him if you are desperately thin at running back.
Reports that Randle missed practice Wednesday because he was upset Dallas named McFadden the starter Sunday are not true, per Alper.
However, Alper did say head coach Jason Garrett told the media Randle missed the practice for more than just an injury: "He is just addressing a personal issue. That is all there is about it. He is trying to get himself healthy. He did a little work in practice yesterday and he is trying to take care of this thing. He took care of it yesterday. He is taking care of it today. Hopefully everything is good."
Garret said this issue was unrelated to an arrest earlier this year, per Alper. Even so, off-field issues coupled with an injury are certainly not good news for Randle fantasy owners.
McFadden won't put up Pro Bowl numbers, but he is clearly the No. 1 option for Dallas right now. That is enough to feel good about plugging him into your lineup unless you are lucky enough to have two or three solid runners already on your roster.
