Few franchises boast a history as rich as the Dallas Cowboys, and safety Darren Woodson's contributions to the team's legacy will be celebrated in spectacular fashion during the upcoming season.

According to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com, the 46-year-old ESPN analyst will be honored this fall as the 21st person inducted into the organization's Ring of Honor. David Helman of DallasCowboys.com noted the ceremony will take place on November 1 as the team takes on the Seattle Seahawks.

"This is an amazing day for me, Woodson said, per Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "It's an absolute honor. This has always been my family."

Woodson, who was the No. 37 overall selection in 1992 NFL draft, played all 12 of his NFL seasons with the Cowboys. He was named to the Pro Bowl on five occasions, is a three-time First-Team All-Pro selection and remains the team's all-time leading tackler with 951.

The three-time Super Bowl champion received positive messages from many after the news was announced, including ESPN colleague Field Yates:

Offensive lineman Nate Newton, who was Woodson's teammate from 1992 through 1998, had nothing but great things to say about the former Arizona State standout as well, per Eatman:

"He's the ultimate warrior. There's no more like him," Newton said. "He never left the field. He played all the special teams. He only left the field with the offense. He made everyone better. He was the back end to our defense."

Woodson himself spoke about his accomplishments in Dallas, saying: "We climbed that mountain three times," per Machota. "And I hope we climb that damn thing this year."

Woodson missed the cut for the 2015 Pro Football Hall of Fame, and while it is unclear if he will ever be enshrined in Canton, the Cowboys' Ring of Honor is an excellent consolation prize if he isn't.

A total of 14 Hall of Famers are part of the Ring of Honor, including quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach, running back Emmitt Smith, wide receiver Michael Irvin and many other legends.

Although most don't often put Woodson on the same pedestal as those players, he was undoubtedly a massive part of the Cowboys' championships success in the 1990's, and his induction into the Ring of Honor ensures that fans will never forget his impact.
