Garrett Unsure of Bryant's Status for June Minicamp
Saturday, May 7
Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram shared photos of Bryant getting some reps on the practice field:
"He's done a really good job with his rehab, and he's made progress," said Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, per Archer. "Like with all those guys, it's a day-by-day, week-by-week thing. But he's had no setbacks, but he really continues to get better and better."
Bryant appeared in nine games last year, catching 31 passes for 401 yards and three touchdowns. Between his absence and Tony Romo's injury problems, the Cowboys finished with four wins, their fewest since 1989. The Cowboys ranked 31st in offensive DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average) in 2015, per Football Outsiders.
In April, Romo told David Helman of the team's official website that he had recovered enough to participate fully in the team's offseason workouts. Getting their starting quarterback back to 100 percent is vital for the Cowboys ahead of the 2016 season, and the same applies for Bryant as well.
Barring a major setback, Bryant should be ready when Dallas opens the regular season on Sept. 11 against the New York Giants. Along with his and Romo's eventual return, the addition of running back Ezekiel Elliott through the draft should give the Cowboys one of the NFC's more potent offenses next year.
