Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant made a recruiting pitch to unsigned free-agent cornerback Darrelle Revis on Saturday, saying his attitude would fit the team's culture.

Revis, 31, has been on the open market since the New York Jets released him on March 9.

On May 22, ESPN.com's Rich Cimini published a report in which officials from four different teams agreed there is "no market for Revis because of a significant decline last season and whispers about his commitment."

In his end-of-season secondary grades, Pro Football Focus' Matt Claassen broke down just how far Revis' performance dipped during the Jets' woeful 5-11 campaign: "Prior to 2016, Revis’ career passer rating allowed to opposing quarterbacks was 60.4. This year, opposing quarterbacks had a rating of 104.2 when targeting Revis, and Revis’ five combined interceptions and pass breakups was a career-low (excluding his injury-shortened season)."

As far as the Cowboys are concerned, adding Revis to the roster now would seem to go against the grain. Not only did they sign free agent Nolan Carroll in March, but they also bolstered their secondary by drafting corners Chidobe Awuzie, Jourdan Lewis and Marquez White along with safety Xavier Woods.

The Cowboys' pass defense is certainly in need of work after it allowed a 26th-ranked 260.4 yards per game last season, but adding Revis to the mix when he would deprive youngsters of key developmental snaps could complicate matters as Dallas eyes back-to-back NFC East titles.
