NFL commissioner Roger Goodell gave the go-ahead to Drew Pearson before he trolled fans in Philadelphia on Day 2 of the draft.

The former Dallas Cowboys receiver announced the team's second-round pick Chidobe Awuzie, but first he thanked Eagles fans for his great career.

"That's something I had mentioned backstage to the commissioner, in a jokingly type manner, that I should say that," he explained on SportsCenter, via ESPN. "Then he agreed with me. He encouraged me to say that to rile them up even more, and I said, 'Really, OK. I'll do it.'

The thousands of fans in attendance were already prepared to boo the Cowboys as soon as their image came on the board, but Pearson took it to a new level as soon as he mentioned the "five-time Super Bowl champions."

The NFL Twitter account captured the memorable moment:

"All those boos took me back to when I played at the Vet," Pearson said. "It fired me up. Lucky Herm Edwards wasn't there. I wanted to run some routes on him."

Pearson spent all 11 years of his NFL career in Dallas, earning three first-team All-Pro selections and helping the team win Super Bowl XII.
