The playoffs have started early for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, as the NFC East rivals will square off to decide the division championship on Sunday night.

The winners will move on to the postseason and the losers will clean out their lockers.

The Eagles enter the game riding a wave of momentum. Head coach Chip Kelly’s squad has won six of its last seven contests on the strength of the NFL’s second-ranked offense and a bend-don’t-break defense that’s held all but three opponents to 21 or fewer points this season.

The Cowboys have been floundering all week in the wake of devastating injury news on both sides of the ball. Tony Romo is officially ruled out, leaving journeyman backup Kyle Orton to start under center. Meanwhile, ESPN.com indicates that linebacker Sean Lee is a no-go and defensive end DeMarcus Ware is questionable for the defense.

Dallas will have to find a way to make do without some of its stars, but it won’t be easy. Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver DeSean Jackson must be licking their chops at the prospect of going up against the league’s worst defense.

Philadelphia is prone to slip-ups, though. Backup signal-caller Matt Cassel led the Minnesota Vikings to 48 points against the Birds two weeks ago. Moreover, the last time the Eagles played Dallas, Nick Foles quarterbacked his worst game as a pro in a 17-3 loss.

That’s why the game is played on the field and not on paper.

Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET on NBC from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. As always, be sure to keep it here for highlights and analysis of all the action.
