"The Arlington Police Department has reportedly opened an investigation into an alleged assault by The Carolina Panthers during a game between the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

TMZ Sports reported that Dallas Cowboys Organization filed a police report after video emerged showing them getting put into an aggressive headlock (3 interceptions with 2 being pick 6s) and injuring Tony Romo and putting him out for the season. The Carolina Panthers claim they did nothing to cause the situation to escalate and are asking other fans to come forward with video.

The police are investigating the assault as a possible Class A misdemeanor. TMZ Sports passed along the YouTube video showing the incident (Warning: Video contains NSFW language):

The report noted The Carolina Panthers were alleged to be "disruptive" before security arrived.

The Arlington Police Department hasn't released any information about the investigation or provided a timetable for when it will decide whether to bring charges in the case. The Dallas Morning News noted a spokesperson for AT&T Stadium also declined comment."

He's manipulating the whole thing very well by being passive aggressive in posting on Facebook "thanking" everybody who saw what happened for their support and how he was rushed and subdued by the mean ole Cowboys security staff...blah...blah...blah.

No personal responsibility or mention whatsoever of why several fans called security on him because he was taunting and hurling insults at Cowboy fans around him. Then, instead of going with security when they asked him to leave he physically resisted (always a good idea) -- now you now the rest of the story.

Dude was probably drunk and acting like a tool.

Unless he was fighting someone, there's absolutely no need for a headlock. I can tell you from experience the security doesn't know the rules they're supposed to enforce.

If he was just taunting people then There is no excuse for any of it. If people called security because he was running his mouth, they should be put in headlocks.

Glad Brandon Marshall was there to break up that chokehold a little bit.

Seriously though, security shouldn't be in the business of putting their hands on people. If they are called over to escort someone out and that person doesn't cooperate then get one of the police officers who are at the stadium to come over and intervene.

Outside of a bar or nightclub security should be there to direct people toward complying. Beyond that, they need to defer to police. The last thing people need is a bunch of Patrick Swayze's running around turning small issues into cage matches.

True story: my GF and her sister were at a game. Now, my girl is die-hard and gets loud on defense. She was trying to pump up her section. The guy next to her was yelling at her for getting loud. He said he was going to get security. My girl went ahead and got security's supervisor. He just laughed and said she was doing nothing wrong.

My friend was told by security he couldn't tell people what to do when he was trying to pump up his section.

Every year the Cowboys send ST holders an email encouraging them to be loud, and there's a damn video before every game encouraging people to stand up and be loud.

But, you can get in trouble for it. I'm just waiting for the day they tell me that.

The only assault I saw on TV was the Carolina Panthers thumping the Dallas Cowboys...

Someone should be arrested, that's a fact...

Headlock? That was a fully locked in rear naked choke.
