Romo Heads Straight to Locker Room
Sunday, Sept. 20
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Drew Davison, Romo was seen grabbing his left shoulder after getting tossed to the turf by Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks. Davison added Romo was taken to the locker room for X-rays and that his status for the remainder of the game is unknown.
Forbes' Josh Katzowitz passed along video of the injury:
Romo, 35, has brought the Cowboys stability at the quarterback position for the past decade and has continued to improve. He had arguably his finest season in 2014, throwing for 3,705 yards and 34 touchdowns while completing 69.9 percent of his passes and leading the Cowboys to the postseason, where they were a controversial call away from reaching the NFC Championship Game.
While the Cowboys had some turnover in 2015—namely losing DeMarco Murray in free agency to rival Philadelphia—the team was once again expected to be one of the top squads in the NFC. Without Romo, however, that goes out the window.
The four-time Pro Bowler was much-maligned coming into the 2014 season for a perceived inability to come up in the clutch, though last season seemed to put some of that to rest. Coming into this season, he was a main reason why many people expected the team to reach the postseason, along with the team's excellent offensive line and all-world receiver Dez Bryant.
Dallas even felt it had a three-year Super Bowl window left with Romo at the helm, per Bleacher Report's Jason Cole:
The Cowboys will now be fearing they might have lost one of the years in that window, however. Their season is entirely reliant on the healthy return of Romo.
