I think he gets a huge deal, and Jerry's going to be happy to be the guy to do it. We can extend him at any point, can't we? If so, I can even see us making an exception and locking him down early on a deal that we project to be full market rate.

Honestly, the guy deserves it.

I hope that's the case.

I hope that's the case.

I mean, there's only so much money to go around, and we gotta extend Martin and Frederick, too. So that means tying up a fortune in the OL. But I think this is a guy we'd do it on. He's young, and he's good. He committed to Jerry, and that's something Jerry typically rewards when he can. And you gotta think an extension or a quid pro quo on the next contract is something that was discussed in the recruiting pitch somewhere. When Stephen's coming out in public saying we're benefiting from the situation, it tells me the organization is going to make-good here at some point.

But it'll have to be at the cost of not signing somebody. Last season, that cost us Demarco Murray. Maybe its Lawrence or Hitchens or some other key role player we have to let walk to keep the young OL together. But it'll be somebody.

I liken Collins to LA. Leave him at Guard, and he can become an all time great.

Move him to Tackle, and he'll be good.

I'd be okay letting Kitchens and Lawrence go. Collins looks like a once-in-a-generation player. The others? Eeh. Not so much.

Bingo!

That's the difference and is likely why his baby's momma called the authorities. If he were at home with her and their child, it might have been different.

But you highlighted a point about discipline. It's different when the parent is a loving, caring one who is there for the child and cares for the child's best interest than a part-time parent who wants to throw his/her weight around when he's/she's present then disappear until the next scheduled visitation.

Yeah but I bet that CHILD SUPPORT MONEY AIN'T PART TIME. Their are lots of fathers who not paying child support and not in their kids lives or disciplining them......The parents and their children are the ones we should ALL be afraid of.

This is why I was hoping Chaz Green would be bought up this week. Unfortunately does not look like that will happen. He's a huge guy, drafted in the 3rd round to be the heir apparent to Doug Free. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed this year. Even if he never made the active roster this year at least that would of allowed him to practice with the O-line. Train with them all so coaches would see him day in day out. Somehow we need to know what we do or don't have, the 4 year contract allows us to hopefully find the next RT fairly cheap for a few years - while the other O-line contracts come up. Thus making them affordable - sort of, and keeping this line together.
Is it a position we have to spend more resources on or can he be the guy. Now we won't know till next year, and if not, then another opportunity will have passed (Draft).
My opinion, Jerry/Stephen will not let Collins get away, if he is playing at an all-pro level in a year or two. They will re-sign him before his contract is up - no doubt about it.

I just wanted to point that out....it appears that Collins so far has turned out to be a good kid and on his way to being a pro-bowler and model citizen. He would not have been the human being he is today if he was not scared and respectful of his parents.

Jason Witten turned out okay after being abused by his father, your point is really dumb and you should not defend what Peterson did to his son, namely beat him until he had lacerations on his scrotum and stick leaves in his mouth.

I like where you're heads at, my man.

15 likes............rack 'em up.

I don't like competitive games by nature.... I like domination, destruction and the outcome decided early in our favor. Maybe the 90s created this monster. Lol

That's my biggest fear with respect to this offensive line. Everyone knows the story on Collins. If he turns out to be Larry Allen incarnate, then a team is going to throw major money at him, hoping to make up for the money he didn't get because he fell in the draft. And someone's going to do it. But will the Cowboys be able to match it?

Loyalty, smoyalty. Collins is looking to cash in once his contract is done. I'm betting he goes to the highest bidder.

He is way better than Larry Allen.

If you pumped Larry Allen full of PEDs on his best day and allowed him to cheat, you'd have La'el Collins injured and without practicing.

BTW, I'd slap a franchise tag on him real quick if need be. One way or the other, I'm not losing those 4 guys on the OL.

lmao Oh, really? What a ridiculous thing to say!

But, this young man is going to just get better and better as time goes on.

Good God can we just leave the guy alone and work his way up before we crown him to be the best lineman in history (to be)? Jesus.

So Collins sasses his mom ONCE when he was a teenager....What did she do...she broke a broom over his back(is she being called a bad person).......people need to understand different races discipline our children different, shoot even different parts of the country discipline their children a little more harsh (down south) ...What AP did was try to get his soon to be rich and spoiled son to understand what he is , what he will become and the burden that will be placed on him. AP only did what happened to so many others.....Who knows maybe AP son will remember that and not get shot by a cop in about 20 years...

I have no problem with giving a kid a firm smack on the behind if the situation calls for it. My parents did it to me. Fortunately, I haven't had to do it with my son and he is VERY well-behaved. Repeatedly whipping a 4 year-old child to the point where one is leaving multiple marks including some right next to his genitals is inexcusable and wrong. Did you see the pictures of what Peterson did to this helpless child?! If not, go Google it. It's disgusting. I don't care what race, or whatever, you're from, that kind of physical abuse of a child is inexcusable and repulsive. Justifying Peterson's actions is ridiculous.

We keep the OL together because we will not be paying QB money in a few years.

We may have to let one go but it's not going to be as hard as some think.

I find it funny that the Vikings and AP are one of the media's "feel good" stories of the year while Hardy on the field for Dallas gets treatment like we have Hitler on our roster.
