Brad Johnson is simply incapable of performing..

Yeah, I was actually at the game today and I was just shocked at how poorly Johnson was playing. It's funny, I was always told that Johnson's best attribute was his accuracy and that it more than made up for his lack of arm strength. Well, today definitely put that urban legend to sleep, at least for me.

I, along with all the people sitting near me could not believe just how badly he was missing recievers, some of which were WIDE OPEN. I happened to see T.O. going off the field and couldn't help but notice that he looked really pissed off. Generally I would roll my eyes and think to myself "typical T.O." but I found myself thinking the same things he was probably thinking.

That being said, the question of what the top priority in the off-season is has been answered. It's finding a capable backup QB whether it's via the draft or FA.

I really expected (hoped?) that Johnson would be better this week, but it just wasn't there. Short, medium or long he is just not accurate. I was not worried about having him as a backup because I thought he would be a competent bus driver if Romo was to go down, but he's not even that. I still don't see that Bollinger would be an improvement with the limited reps he has had since coming in late in the preseason. But maybe with a limited playbook and some rollouts to take advantage of his mobility he could get the job done?

Under Johnson's direction, the offense gained 178 yards against Tampa Bay - such meager production simply won't beat the Giants next week.

Would Bollinger be any better? I doubt it. In fact, if he turns into Bumblin' Brooks, the Cowboys may suffer a worse defeat against the Giants than if they had started Johnson.

However, I'll take the unknown variable over the certain loss.

Give me Bollinger.

Dude Brad Johnson is gonna shut up all the haters next week when he has a field day on the Giants. Hes just going to go OFF. I don't see the Giants having answer for our super awesome terrific Quarterback.

See, that's the thing...we don't know that.

Johnson may not be good, but the coaching staff clearly feels they know exactly what they'll get from him. Bollinger, otoh, is a total wildcard. Maaaaybe he'll good, maaaaybe he'll suck. We have no way to know for sure.

Better to stick with the evil you do know and try to muddle through.

Rubbish!!! Brooks has been in the league for 6 years as opposed to 60 with Grandpa Johnson. Brooks has a half decent arm and he can scramble sum which keeps the play alive. Brooks gives us a fighting chance.

Brad is a one legged half blind bus driver scaling the guard rail of the grand canyon. Don't even get me started. The only reason why BJ is starting is because he has compromising pics of Garrett and JJ, not necessarily together though..;)

Right, but why make the switch if the other guy is just as bad.

Do you guys really think Bollinger is going to beat the Giants.

I think you give Brad Johnson a chance to win the game next week and if he struggles, you insert Bollinger.

Personally, I think it would send the team the wrong message if you bench Brad Johnson, right after a win.
There you go!

:toast::dance: smile...

Obviously the coaching staff have no hopes for Bollinger other than when they said he was picking up the playbook quickly. If Bollinger was even an option to play we would have seen him late in the Rams game. Face it... Brad Johnson is the man with the GUNS and we ain't switching to Brooks...

Has Romo been ruled out for the Giants game?
I sure hope not, the Giants pass rush will get to Johnson a lot quicker than the Buccaneers rush did. We seriously NEED Romo this week if we plan on winning this one.

The fact that management and the coaching staff were comfortable going into the season with BJ as the back-up is a complete indictment of the organization. Other options were out there. You don't need a back-up that is as good as the starter, but you at least need one that is a competent QB. This more than anything else symbolizes that we are now back in a Chan Gailey, Dave Campo-esque era. Did anyone stand-up to Jerry? I mean Phillips, Garrett cannot think this guy is a competent QB or do they? Total shame.....
BINGO! the guy flatout sucks.

Johnson's lack of mobility and poor arm strength are understandable. However, I was befuddled by his poor accuracy. On several occasions, he missed TO and RW when they were open.

BJ has to be one of the worst QBs in the NFL, he was missing WIDE OPEN WRs!!!!!

TO had his guy beat by a good 3 steps to the back corner of the zone and BJ threw the ball into the 10th row, that was an easy 6 that most college Qbs could have made.

I give us a 10% chance of beating the G-men next week with BJ at QB.

I personally go with Bollinger, but thats me.

And you actually think our chances go up by inserting Bollinger into the mix?

I agree, however what are our options? I know Daunte is still out there, but who else? Can Vinny still throw?:laugh2:

I was hoping the Steelers would have reached an injury settlement and released Charlie Batch by now.

The only way Bollinger would be worse than Johnson is if he somehow turns out to be a turnover machine. And while Johnson didn't turn the ball over today (the only thing he did right), he had a couple that should have been picked, so yeah maybe I don't see how Bollinger could be worse.

The only way Bollinger could be worse is if he were dead...
