Just got through reviewing the game (I was on vacation last week).

Dude still looks like the same ol' Bradie James to me -- slow and lost.

Sure he had the nice stop on short yardage, but he even looked bad against the run on a few plays other plays to me.

I didn't see much talk on this recently. Thoughts?

The Magic Wand takes a little longer to perform its magic than one meaningless preseason game.

As for thoughts on it....well, bring on Carpenter.

I was thinking more of the 20 pounds of weight loss. I thought he'd look much quicker.

Didn't really bother isolating on Bradie. I didn't really see anything of note from any of our defensive players to say "Oh yeah - they look quicker and more alert." Maybe they're just running a little zone action, getting comfortable in the first preseason game.

I didn't either. I didn't get what Parcells saw in him in TC of 2004, I thought he was overrated in 2005 and we all know how bad he was in 2006. He has never shown me anything to think that he can't be replaced.

I thought Carp, Glymph, Ware, and particularly Ayodele looked noticeably lighter and faster. Burnett still looks thin as always.

I'm with you. I'm glad he lost weight, but I doubt it makes him significantly quicker. Maybe his endurance will be better at the end of games.

Check out the 28-yard pass to Harrison. Not saying your ILB should prevent that play completely, but I wish he could get back a little farther than he did.

Lighter? Sure. I just didn't notice any real difference in flying to the ball. Kind of looked the same as always - no flashbacks to the old tiny 4-3 Zimmer days, that's for sure.

But I probably wasn't paying close enough attention.

James had a nice play on the 4th and 1 against the Colts were he nailed the RB in the hole for no gain giving Dallas possession.

I agree.

He nearly fell overreacting to the counter play, he ran himself right out of the hole.

He then did what he did a lot the last two years, finished off the play...Canty stuffed the 4th and 1, the guy was halfway down when Bradie fell on him.

And the Colts exploited the middle with the receivers usually coming from his side.

Watch Ayodele. He looked like a completely different player (in terms of size and speed).

Yeah, I mentioned this in the OP. The problem was that he had several bad plays against the run as well because he simply overran the play or was blocked out.

Canty made that play, James just finished him off.

Canty was not in on that play, Ware and James were credited for the stop.

4-1-DAL35 (5:30) D.Dorsey to DAL 35 for no gain (D.Ware; B.James).

He probably does still suck but please dont make that evaluation after 1 or even 4 pre-season games.

I watched it 5 times on tivo, it was Canty...and it wouldn't change the fact that the first guy that filled the hole, stuffed the play, hit the back, knocked him back, and started him to the turf wasn't James.

You're right that Canty wasn't in on the play, but Ware, by himself, would have stopped Dorsey short. He had him wrapped up at the waist well short of the first down. Bradie just pulled him backwards after Ware had him tackled.

Why not? I'm tired of this ridiculous line that you can't tell anything from preseason games. It's simply not true.

YOU CAN EVALUATE INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE IN PRESEASON GAMES.

James stopped the forward progress. I'm not saying James is some Pro Bowl stud I do think he is better than some around here are making him out to be. Right now he is with the 1st string D and if Phillips does not think he is the better option I'm sure Wade will replace him. We will just wait and see how it plays out during the training camp. Let me ask since you started this thread was it to get opinions or to just trash Brady James?
