Looking at Overthecap, Brady looks like he is making less than the other major QBs over the next 3 years.

This team needs Revis.

NE was brilliant with what they did with him. Put him on the #2 WR and double the #1.

I know 2014 is still in play. And I have high hopes. But the window is now!

I'm not certain if Brady was at the end of his contract, but...

Is there a way to rework Romo so he takes less and it benefits the team coming into 2015. I said this in another thread, but I believe if this team made some bold moves with the cap, and perhaps franchised Murray, pay Dez and RoMc, and retain Free - along with drafting a DT and DE, they could have a top ten defense, and perhaps top five.

This comes down to money. Because the pieces are in place. I once thought the defense was far off, but am now thinking it needs a pass rush to get the QB off his spot and disrupt the timing of the other guy's passing offense.

Romo is aging. He is playing better than he ever has.

Murray is making a huge difference.

RoMc at the Mike with Lee at the Will and Hitchens at the Sam, or whatever, will be formidable. This defense just needs a little more push at the front four.

This could be 92 and 93 with the right moves.

All in for Six and Seven.

Your homer side sickens me.

It's funny to me how these things get reported. "Brady takes a hit for the team... what a super guy..."

The narrative is BS but some people buy into it. That's what passes for news in New England. In reality, Brady just made a prudent business decision.

I think a better example rather than Brady would be Tim Duncan of the Spurs. He already made his multi millions but he wanted a championship. Thus they were able to put a team together with the right people.

to be fair...A LOT easier to give up some money for 4 guys vs. a team where there are 22 starters.

Brady didn't take a paycut. He's actually going to make more money!

That is the same thing everyone said when he signed the last 3 yr extension. Everyone said there is no way he would play those 3 years for 24m. Technically they are right because he will now get 27m for those 3 years, but that isn't the bump everyone was expecting.

There is no way to get around the fact that Brady is giving back REAL money and SALARY CAP money big time. It is obviously something Brady wants to do help his team for whatever reason, but it is not something that can be expected from anyone else. Especially considering he already has 3 rings and has made a ton of money, on and off the field.

Guaranteed money is the big thing with NFL contracts. Brady went from 24m guaranteed to 8m guaranteed. He did this in return for 1m more a year for the next 3 years, but that is still a significant difference.

You say that is if he made some kind of sacrifice.

The money, which is now $27M, is still guaranteed for injury and Tom Brady isn't exactly worried about the team releasing him for performance or salary cap reasons.

And the base salaries will become fully guaranteed in each future season if Brady is on the roster for the first game.

1m a year bump in salary is very little in return for dumping 16m in guaranteed money and a ton of leverage. Brady's contract is and has been team friendly.

He didn't take a pay cut... he is still gets the same amount of money at the end of his contract plus the bonus for the restructure. He didn't create cap space for the team so I don't know why you think his contract is any more "team friendly". The restructure created more cash flow for the Kraft family not the team.
