I'm an admitted Troy Smith fan and have been involved in some of the debates here between who is the better prospect between Smith and Quinn. Obviously, I'm of the belief that Smith will do very well at the next level.
The crux of my belief has been the fact that the guy is a leader, he wins games, and in the biggest games, he plays his best.
Without question, the same cannot be said of Quinn. This year, in ND's three biggest games and against their most difficult opponents (USC, Michigan and LSU) he has failed to impress.
So my question is this: what will be the effect on his draft status? There was talk of top ten, top five if I'm not mistaken before the college football season started.
Add in if Smith has a big game Monday night - does Smith get drafted before Quinn? In other words, measurables (height, basically) over production? Especially after the success of two proven winners on the college level from last year's draft who dropped for various reasons (Leinert and Young) and their success this year?
