Brandin Cooks Is the Most Sure-Fire Prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft

Brandin Cooks is not the No. 1 prospect in the 2014 NFL Draft. He’s not even regarded as the top player at his position.

Nevertheless, Cooks may be the most sure-fire, can’t-miss prospect in this talent-rich draft.

The top of the draft is loaded with players who possess elite skill and tremendous potential, but none of them escape concerns related to their performance, character or medical history. Does Jadeveon Clowney possess the work ethic to maximize his once-in-a-generation talent? (He does.) Can Johnny Manziel develop into an effective NFL quarterback? (He might.)

Yeah he can definitely be DeSean Jackson without the personality. He will be a good pick for a wr needy team in the 17-23 range

I love the guy. Fantastic athleticism and body control. If Dallas didn't have so many needs on defense, I'd say go ahead and get Cooks. There is just something about him that makes me feel like he is going to hit for sure. His production was crazy and his measurables are even better.

Kind of reminds me a little bit of Terry Glenn.

That's about where I think he will go. He's definitely a riser as we get closer to the draft.

I'd say Sammy Watkins is more sure-fire than Cooks

He certainly burst on to the scene after the combine...I thought he would jump up the charts and then fall back down....he fell down to the late first, early second but now seems to be on the rise again...timing is everything

I think Evans is better as well...Evans, I think, could end up being the best WR in this draft when we look back at this time 15 years from now

He is 5-9. The modern NFL seems to be owned by the mega sized WRs.

Even the 2013 Cowboys defense did a decent job containing Desean Jackson.

The little super fast guys are fun, but I would be very hesitant to draft one at 16.

Could you imagine if we were set at all positions and felt all they needed was a dynamic speedster? Maybe Carolina will trade with us to get him if there are no prospects orthodox the 16 pick left.

In another thread someone referred to Cooks as Desean minus the attitude. I wonder how much his speed would open up the field for Dez amd T-Will?

Take the best player on your board... If Cooks is your best player at the time you draft him and move on. The NFL is all about taking the best available talent.

In general I agree, but this kid has a special level of explosion. Put him in a 3 WR set with Dez and TWill and our offense would be twice what it was last year.

Cooks has been one of the most exciting players I've seen come through Oregon State. Been a season ticket holder for many years. Last year, we lost Marcus Wheaton and I was concerned. But Brandin Cooks had such a phenomenal year. He has great speed, agility, hands, and approach to the game. I really wish this kid was coming back for his senior year, along with Scotty Crichton, but I understand. Would love to see both of those guys come to the cowboys.
