Norv Turner is now the OC in San Francisco. He needs a receiver who can make plays consistently in his vertical passing game. Would the Niners have let Lloyd go for a 3rd, and 4th in consecutive years if he were cosidered a valuable piece to the offense?

Lloyd is a good receiver, period. He will help Washington alot, especially since he'll now be the #2 guy.

"good" receiver? He is an ok receiver I wouldn't call him good. He wouldn't start here.

He caused a lot of trouble with the organization and teammates apparently.

I am not completely sold on getting Lloyd, but you can't argue with the potential he has. This is what Gibbs wants to tap into.

EDIT: thats the nice way to put it.

Oh yeah, I forgot he's not an all-world blocker and wasn't drafted in the 1990's.

Might wanna add he doesn't have the production that our starters have. Just because you have Commander envy doesn't mean Lloyd became good in the last few hours

He's kind of got Alvin Harper syndrome. He'll have a great game and then follow it up with a couple of disappearing acts. Still, he's a good #2 WR with some upside. It usually takes WR's 2-3 years to come into their own, so he has room to improve. Let's hope he has his 4-5 great games against another team.

How would you feel if the Cowboys gave up a big contract and 2 first day draft picks for a #2 wide receiver at best?

No, Tim Rattay was the QB. Not a good QB, but it surely wasn't young Alex throwin them bombs.

He made two the the most athletic and mind boggling catches I ever saw last year. Apparantly a head case - albeit talented.

Draft bio : 6-1 185 4.62 big play receiver with leaping ability, will go over middle, polished receiver - bad blocking grades

Yea rattay was the Qb when he was playing decent or even good( Cowboys game)...I'm sure you guys noticed that his game went down hill once Alex Smith started at QB.

I'm not going to be surprised when him and MOSS start lighting things up next year.

I hate seeing a fellow Illini on the Skins, but its a nice pick up for them.

However, I'm trying to figure out how he's any different than Antonio Bryant (who is an UFA) and would not have cost them the draft picks.

"Though Lloyd made countless eye-popping catches during his three years with San Francisco, he also made a series of memorable drops and mistakes. "

"He was San Francisco's top receiver last season, catching 48 passes for 733 yards and five touchdowns, but alienated teammates and clashed with the coaching staff."

AB would have been a better choice for them, IMO... but I can't complain. They lost 2 draft picks in the process.

I don't recall, at what point did Henry pull his groin? I think it was well after but maybe someone with a better memory could clear that question up..

Lloyd played in a horrible offense in San Fran, yet still managed to put up 700+ yards and 5TDs. If he puts up 700 yards and 5TDs for the Skins, I'll be jumping for joy. He's going to be the number 3 option behind Moss and Cooley. If I were a Cowboy fan, I wouldn't be taking this so lightly.

As far as the OP's question -- Lloyd was going to leave at the end of this season as an UFA, and the 9ers would get nothing. Now at least they get some sort of compensation for him.

Sounds like a poor man's Keyshawn Johnson. More of the same from Daniel "Cowboy Envy" Snyder still trying to keep up with the Joneses.

He'll be your number 2 guy. There is no way they line Cooley up at Receiver. I wonder how Lloyd will take it when he's not the number one option in the passing game. Check out his career at Illinois...he's always been one of those, "I'm always open" guys.
