Romo's deal: $25M to sign; Base salaries: $1.5M in '13, $13.5M in '14, $17M in '15, $8.5M in '16, $14M in '17, $19.5M in '18, $20.5M in '19.

Cap numbers for Romo in Dallas: $11.82M in ’13, $21.77M in ’14, $25.27M in ’15, $15.14M in ’16, $19M in ’17, $19.5M in ’18, $20.5M in ’19.

On Romo's guarantees -- $25M signing bonus, $15M in base in '13/'14 fully guaranteed. In '15, $15M of his $17M base guaranteed for injury.

If Romo's on the roster on the 3rd day of '14 league yr, $7.5M of '15 base is fully guar. Another $7.5M fully guar on 3rd day of '15 lge yr.

Another ironic paradox is that the same people complaining about the OLine are the same people complaining about Tony Romos' contract.

Look everyone was really very upset with Tony Romo this year after the last game and the three INTs to end our season yet again.....think the Oline might of had something to do with QB performance and Tony over the years?

The truth of the matter is that Oline hasn't been fixed since Romo was named the starter and the QBs prior to him were getting demolished.

And here I thought this post would help people feel better about the deal. Especially the 'In '15, $15M of his $17M base guaranteed for injury' part.

I know there's a few people here who have said they don't like the deal strictly for money reasons... but as I've said elsewhere, from observing here and talking to people randomly, the people who aren't happy with this deal aren't mad over the money. They don't want Romo back under any terms, or even to finish his contract for that matter.

Fix the damn O-Line so we can really assess where Tony is at this season. If we fail to do this yet again in this year's draft, I'm going to lose all faith in Jerrah.

Yep, pretty much every one complaining wanted to trade him. On one had they act as if he has little value yet on the other seem to think Dallas would get a lot in return. :laugh2:

Myself I think he and the Cowboys agreed on a fair deal.

These are the same people that re-elect Marion Berry and eat at McDonalds when they're already 100 pounds overweight.

You can't fix stupid. Romo is a good quarterback, and more importantly, THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS.

I'm up for railing on Jerry and the operations of the team all day, but Romo has not been the problem. He's the only reason this thing has stayed over 4-12 the past several seasons.

Good lord. You still have faith in Jerrah after all these years. You must love heart aches.

This time next year, he will be restructuring his contract because we will be cash strapped.

That contract is setup for restructuring and finally cutting late in the contract. Romo won't see the entire life of that contract.

Basic common sense would tell you that there are some desperate teams out there that would give a lot for Romo. That doesn't mean he is wonderful. Look at what Oakland gave for Palmer.

and if Dallas gave up Romo we would be one of them. Romo is a fine QB winning and losing is not all about the QB but then you don't understand it to you the game is one person. Your not even worth the time, you and the crowd who act as if NFL is a one man game have no fricken clue.

People freak out about guaranteed salary but obviously, he's going to be on the team in 13 and 14, so those are really no big deal. The other guarantees are not all that shocking. He's going to be on our roster for the next three years no matter what. It isn't like he's going to be fighting for a roster spot, so those guarantees aren't particularly impressive concessions

We should also remember that his 2013 salary was going to be like 13 mill or something anyway. You have to consider that in evaluating the deal. That's money that was already committed.
