Do I think he's remorseful for killing his teammate... Yes
Do I think he should go to jail for a joint..... No
Do I think he should've been aware of the short leash he was on prior to the accident....Yes
Do I think Brent is some low life criminal who the laws should throw the book at him for his actions.... No

A lot of people smoke to clear their mind from today's problems or issues one is currently going through. Maybe he felt like he needed to relieve some stress. Maybe he just likes to get high, I don't know what the case may be here but I do know after reading this that his future doesn't look good in Dallas.

I'm still pulling for Brent and hopes he comes out on top but is hard to do when you going up a slippery slope.

MODS please change the part of my name that reads "DA" to "the", so that I may appease "the realist".

stupid is as stupid does. There really was no good reason to hang onto this nitwit before now; and if this is true its time for Jerruh to man up and say that enough is enough and the Boys are done with him for good.

Just simple stupidity and character weakness. Neither of which we want on the Boys.

That is all a myth.

Marijuana has lots of long term learning and memory consequences. Plus, it causes problems like depression, lack of satisfaction in life, and decreased motivation.

To act like marijuana is "not a drug" or has no consequences is pretty absurd and, imo, a way for people to rationalize using it.

I never said it's not a drug, nor did I say there's no negative consequences. All I did was compare it to alcohol.

You forgot, do I think he is as stupid as they come? Yes.

Someone before you said it was hardly a drug or something. I meant to quote both...my bad.

Yep. Anything you hear about RKGs is thrown completely out of the water when Jason let this clown on the sidelines. He killed a Cowboy.

Bravo. Let me add these tidbits:

1. Marijuana is a gateway drug. One day you are watching Arthur Godfrey on TV and smoking a chubby and the next day you are craving alcohol.
2. Marijuana is known to make you play the piano really fast with a crazed look on your face.
3. Two words: Gene Krupa
4. Look how Capt. America and Billy ended up. Dead on the side of the road after patriots responded to two crazed bikers trying to seduce young girls.
5. Poor school performance. Smoking a fat one make you NOT concentrate.
Choose education, not addiction.
6. All the authorities -- from Rush Limbaugh to Dean Martin -- say it inhibits being handsome and stuff.
7. I once knew a feller who smoked it. After robbing a store he went on a 3-state crime spree. His last name was Starkweather.
8. American cars. Why do you think they are so lousy? I'll tell you why. UAW workers are stoned out of their minds during lunch breaks and then build dumb cars.
9. Marijuana supports the drug cartels. That is another reason to avoid it.
10. TVland is largely watched by stoned viewers. Ever watch the crap on that network? I rest my case.

I would write more but I forgot all the other good reasons.

Nothing wrong with pot, but this guy just does not have a brain at all. If you are going on trial for manslaughter you better be walking a straight line especially if the organization is standing behind you. This isn't about the "POT" ths is about being stupid about the situation you are currently in.

Yep, pretty much my thoughts. If there was no manslaughter involved I would just say "oh well, carry on then".

Seriously? Over react much?
Over react? This man took another mans life with his actions. This man obviously didn't take it too serious or he would not be taking illegal drugs while out on bail.

I agree, largely.

But keep in mind that most NFL players come from a high school/college cultures where they are coddled. Many times, their coaches keep them out of jail/get them out of jail and their crimes are largely covered up. They are coddled and get better treatment (off the field) than their student counterparts. In short, they often think their crimes are not that severe and are entitled to second and third chances.

Not making excuses for J Brent and his ilk, but athletes mind-sets are quite different than the general population.

sad but true.

Elite basketball and football players start getting special treatment by Junior High in many cases. Some even sooner.

So you say start getting the impression you can do what you want and there will be no serious consequences starting at 13 or 14 and continuing on through Jr High; High School; College and THEN you reach the pros where you are looking at real money and lots of attention.

after 7 or 8 years of that kind of conditioning I think sometimes it is remarkable that 90% of them are NOT spoiled brats whining and crying all the time.
