Ealges are known for letting older players go rather than re-signing. And they have a younger Micheal Lewis who will also be a FA asking for a good amount of money.

I think hes a little overrated, but I respect him and his game.

Anyone interested?

Hrmm... I'm going to say no at this time. Maybe after this season when we can more accurately (I hope) judge the progress our lack thereof pertaining to our FS position. That is what he plays right?

Not really. We're trying to build a young team.

Coleman will be the resident veteran at the position, but I'd rather one of the young guns take it.

The most they would give him is two years.

This is the way they win Championships in Philly.:trophy:

We could have Roy backed up by Keith Davis at SS.

And say Dawkins backed up by Watkins at FS. Or Watkins backed up by Dawkins if Pat proves capable.

Dawkins would be great for us a a stop gap FS next year ( if needed ) or as a very good backup FS.

At the right price hell yes!

All I know is he has been a great player for a long time. If the cost is low, why not? He could be a teaching presense, and give us a backup with tons of knowledge. If one of our younger pups don't show up this year, he could even give us a year or two as a starter.

and therein lies the key, if the cost is low, but if the cost is low, he'll still be an Eagle this time next year, if he doesn't re-up, I wouldn't be suprised to see the Gspots make a run at him

Woody was "old" too and was on the decline, but i'm sure Parcells would have been thrilled to get 2 more years out of him.

I say do it. Why not? We will have the best depth at safety in the NFL. It ain't like we don't already have it but it would help more.

As much as I respect Dawkins, and it is a lot, I think it would be a step backwards. He's a great veteran leader. We need our secondary to develop thier own great veteran leader. My vote is for T-New to stand up and assume the mantle. It would slow the progress of at least one of our young Safeties, Beriault or Watkins. I don't want that growth stunted. Finally it might tempt Zimmer into playing Roy ar FS again, and I don't want that.

Not just no but heck no! I saw enough Eagles' games last year to know that Dawkins is done. He isn't nearly the player that he was even three years ago. I'd take Darren Woodson back before I'd take Dawkins.

I'm curious what other players will be FA "next year". I'm sure there will be alot of them, one that comes to mind is Ed Reed. My point is, just because he hasn't resigned yet, means nothing. The Eagles and Dawkins have about a year to work out a contract. Plenty can get done in that time. IMO, his age indicates he won't be resigned. But then again, there is no successor waiting in the wings, which indicates he will be resigned. We'll have to see. Trashing the Eagles FO for not resigning him is baseless, because they have a year left on his contract. People were trashing them for not giving Westbrook his money this time last year, and then look what happened, he got it.

And Dawkins is not done. Just wanted to put that out there. His play this season will speak for itself.
