Wow, not a word about Rivera. Seems like some people on here jumped ship on him awful quick.

Bears | Poor tackling, miscommunication leads to Super Bowl loss
Mon, 5 Feb 2007 10:17:24 -0800

<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/148">Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears LB Brian Urlacher blamed poor tackling as one of the reasons the Bears were defeated in Super Bowl XLI Sunday, Feb. 4. ''We just didn't do a good job of tackling,'' said Urlacher, who was credited with 10 tackles. ''We're a better team than that. But you have to give them (Indianapolis Colts) some credit. They are the world champions.'' In addition, Urlacher mentioned miscommunication as another downfall during the game. ''We're a smart defense, and we didn't play very well on a couple plays,'' Urlacher said. ''That's on me. I've got to get everyone the call. We looked at our wristbands, and we had some guys get the wrong number. I've got to get that communicated better."

I'm not anti-Rivera, but do you honestly expect a team captain to call out his coordinator?

Wow. Urlacher must not have seen enough of the game to realize that Rivera's ineptitude as a DC cost the Bears the game.;)

I heard Rivera called Mike Zimmer earlier in the week asking for advice on how to stop the Colts. :laugh1:

In todays NFL? If it wasn't Urlacher...which brings me to....

I think Urlacher was just being honest. That's kind of refreshing. Many people who watch the game saw the same thing.

If the Bears would have had so much as a Dilfer-caliber Qb they would have won handily...

It's great to see a player take personal responsibility.

But allow me to remind you.....the Parcell's haters made it clear it was his job to get the players to perform at their best.

Can't be both ways...either it's the player's fault they didn't perform...or it's the coach's fault that he didn't get them to perform.

The coach cannot tackle a player for you, he can only do his best to put you in position to make that tackle. Sounds like that's what happened here.

it's the coaches job to perfect the scheme and relate it to the players, it's the players job to execute it

Makes Dallas' early exit extra tedious, dallas could've won a game like yesterday's.

Would you take Rivera or Lovie if they could bring in this monster LB?

Sorry...I will put my pipe down....

I believe that's what I'm implying.

I've been reminded on several occasions it was also his job to be sure the players execute it.

Me too. I don't put any blame on Rivera for the loss. He probably didn't even decide how aggressive to play.

That was probably decided by Smith.

I heard Urlacher in an interview say that they changed wrist bans because Indy in known for stealing signs and reading players wristbans in the pile. He said some players didnt change the wrist bans. They used 3 or 4 different.

First this is stupid
Second I still dont know who to play just as I dont know who to blame our own collapse on. Did Lovie gameplan the Bears not to Blitz? Was it Lovie that didnt make adjustments at halftime because they were only down by 2?

Its simple the Bears defense made the defensive plays. The offense gave the ball right back to the Colts.

I dont know how much Rivera had to do with the gameplan. I just know that Zimmer's defense was no better before Bill than it was after Bill. It just wasnt a turnover defense. The Bears defense is a turnover defense they made plays to put the offense in good postion but Grossman gave the ball right back.
I believe Lovie didnt want to blitz because most teams didnt blitz against Indy.IMHO

Urlacher took the high road. His comments sound reasonable as well. And he certainly didn't lay the blame where it really deserved to go: To Lovie Smith for starting an awful QB.

The defense was called on to do it all. At the end of the third quarter, the Colts had won the time of possession for the game....That is sad. And without the TD interception return, the Bears were still within a TD of the lead.
