I know it won't happen, but I believe the defense would be much better suited for it. That way, we wouldn't have to get rid of ellis. We could put ellis at left end and ware at right. That would give us 2 great pass rushers on opposite sides all game, just like what the giants have with strahan and that other guy. Glover could go back to his normal spot, and ferguson would be the other DT.

At linebacker we would still be thin though. Bradie James at MLB, Fujita and somebody at OLB.

What do you guys think.

The only way i see this happening is if parcells leaves, which i don't think is going to happen.

I have never liked the 3-4 with the personnel we have and think we have wasted the talents of those players this year.

I would like to know (now that the season is over) how many plays we ran the 3-4 in comparison to the 4-3. Just wondering.

I do agree that in training camp we had the personel for the 4-3 and not the 3-4 but I bet that changes next year.

that is one of the things that really makes me want parcells out of here...............trying to switch the cowboys i've watched for 30 years from 4-3 to 3-4.............get the hell out of here!!!!!!

oh that.......and refusing to play anyone he hasn't drafted or has played for him in the past..

yea, that really gets me upset.

I just posted this on Gleg Ellis thread.

That's too bad.

I remember people were pissed off at Gailey for trying to change the players to fit his offensive philosophy instead of trying to change his philosophy to fit the players he had.

I think the same thing is happening here with Parcells and his defense. We have the players to have a great 4-3 this year but instead he wants to play his 3-4 even though we have average LBs.

I still can't get over taking out either Glover or Ferguson so we can keep Shanle or Fowler in.

He is the coach. Who says the next coach wouldn't have done that?

The mistake BP made was not starting the 3-4 from day 1. He wussed out and let Zim run his scheme, and since it seemed to be working okay, he stayed with it the next year.

By the time he realized he *** up and didn't draft his type of scheme players, he finally got around to doing it this past off-season (so we're frustrated since it's year 3, had he started the process from day one, by now we would be competing for the Superbowl) IMO

There was very, very little 4-3 run this year. 4-3 over/under occasionally in obvious running situations.

Quite a bit of nickel, but mainly 3-4.

Its going to take another offseason to get the defense where it needs to be. Does the offense get neglected again? Or does BP try to run a ball control, keep it close game plan with an average defense again?

Not to mention the potential loss of Ellis and Glover will only hurt the team and force them to try to find replacements there as well.

The best way for this team to get much better next year is to move back to the 4-3.

Keep Ellis and Glover, rotate Canty, Spears, Ratliff and Johnson at DT and DE, put Ware where he did the most damage this season WITH HIS HAND ON THE GROUND.

Find a vet that can play or draft a LB on day one, and spend everything else on the offensive side of the ball.

The 4-3 would require an addition at LB and one at safety.

To get the 3-4 where it needs to be we need a NT, two LBs, a safety, and maybe a DE if we lose Ellis. How can we do that and fix the offense?

The odds of us hitting on 3 or 4 FA and nailing another draft are very long, and that is what it would take to get over the hump next year.

We'll be much more likely to be in the same boat as this year, a defense that is solid but not dominate, and an injury or two away from a bunch of nail biters and disappointment.

Let the 3-4 live. We didn't do too bad with the 3-4!

Keep drafting in that direction and we'll be just fine. Promise!

I am all for the 3-4...
Parcells said himself a few weeks back that next year he could add a whole lot more to the 3-4 after they had a year in.....

Football is forever changing and you have to make changes with it or you will be a step behind....

I agree, we have most of the pieces in place. Our defense wasn't unstoppable, but it was dang good for our 1st year.

Before we had Parcells we had Ellis and Glover and didn't win. It's time to say goodbye, and get this thing on the road. Those 2 guys would be perfect trade bait for draft picks.

You could almost get a 1 for the 2 of them if you hunted around enough. We are 4 parts on Defense, 3 parts on offense, and 1 part on special teams. You can get 4 in the draft, and 4 in FA. NT/OLB/ILB/FS, and RT/C/WR and Kicker.

Seattle could not get a 2nd rd pick for Shaun Alexander and you think we could almost get a 1 for Ellis or Glover?

I've got some nice beach front property in Mesa for sale.:lmao2:

So a team is gonna give up a pick and spend 15 million in cap on two 30+ DL that are just as likely to be cap casualties?

I have some property in Glendale too.::)

Then we keep going. Trade them both to seperate teams for draft picks. Maybe 4's. I can give you some guys I can get in the 4th round that could be studs.
WR Todd Watkins 6'3 195/ 4.28 40... However you can get good picks with these guys do it. But you don't know what a team will do until you call...

BTW, we took on Rivera/Ferguson and gave them millions ( I guess we were not that smart)
