Just like we are sticking with Romo( who by the way is bannanas!!!!!!!!):)
we should stick with watkins and let him grow. He sure can do no worse than Davis and Coleman. As a matter of fact I bet he would be the only one in the secondary who would be pulling int's before the end of the season. Don't say die yet Cowboy Fans!!!! It's a new season and were 1-1.:fight:

We are sticking with Romo because he is playing well and not costing us games.

Watkins was costing us games, so the comparison isn't fair.

Haven't you noticed that we haven't been getting burned on deep passes in the last 2 weeks since Watkins has been on the bench - why would you want to go back to the way it was?

I agree, I've been meaning to start a thread about this..............he was doing no worse than Coleman and Davis.

Coleman is old and not in the future of the 'Boys and Davis will never be an elite FS, and is more a special teams player than anything else.

Let's find out if Watkins is indeed the future, if not we should draft the best availbale safety in the first round. We've been going thru this for years and never came up with a safety since Woody left.

Romo sat and learned for 4 years. Watkins can sit and learn the NFL game before STARTING again.

I absolutely agree, and i don't think we should have benched him to begin with. I knew that Coleman was not very fast anymore, and Davis just looks to make hits and doesn't do it well.

I don't think Watkins would have taken that terrible angle on the Portis TD that Davis took, i still don't know what he was thinking on that play.

Parcells has said that Watkins is fighting in practice to get back on the field, and that he knows that he needs to improve and is doing well.

The one thing we can say with certainty is that even though Watkins gave up some big plays, he was always in the area to make a play. He did not tackle the Philly WR correctly, and he just didn't locate and go after the ball on the flea-flicker and the Burress TD, but he was in the right spot to make something happen.

Our other 2 safeties haven't been close to being where they should be.

Watkins knows what he's doing back there, he just needs to work on making a play on the ball. I would rather have that than a safety who is consistently out of position.

This is so incredibly bizarre that it's laughable.

Let's view this realistically. When Watkins started we were getting burned deep consistently, and since Watkins has been on the bench we haven't been burned deep once .......

Pretty simple analysis and not particularly hard to grasp.

Hell, Parcells even put the blame for the Eagles loss squarely on Watkins shoulders, and after the Giants game expressed confusion on why Watkins failed to even attempt to make a play on the Buress TD even though he was right there with Buress.

We got burned by 2 deep passes. One on the Randle El pass on another that was called back because of that hold they called on the TE. Not including the TD pass to Cooley which BP said was not Henry's responsibility.

My question would be this. The middle of the field was open all day for Brunnell. I don't remember that being a problem all year. Would Watkins have done better in that area? I don't know but just a question because we got eaten alive deep (20-30 yrds) middle.

Umm no.

The kid is just not ready when the lights are on. Parcells said the guy was a monster in Training Camp, getting ints left and right.

He clearly has stage fright and right now we need someone with confidence.

We're 4-4. This team isn't going anywhere. I would start Watkins. His upside is far greater than Davis/Coleman.

I'll take the mistakes.

Thanks you no. He absolutely can - and DID - play worse than either Coleman or Davis. I've seen enough to know he's not ready. You suggest sticking with Romo is a reason to stick with Watkins. The difference is, Romo is not costing us games. Romo is one of the reasons we are in games. Watkins was costing us games, and big time. I've seen enough of that.

Kudos to the coaching staff for relying on a drunk, a target, and a raw beanpole to fill our most glaring need on defense. Great planning.

might not be that bizarre...Parcells said yesterday that Coleman played poorly...sounds like if he doesnt step up in practice and possibly this game vs Arz, he wont be here much longer

I kept telling some of my friends who are Dallas fans that Watkins won't make an immideate impact.

I'm a big college football fan and this guy is one of the most disappointing prospects ever. He was a five star prospect coming out of HS and absolutely failed to live up to his potential leading him to be a fifth round pick. He could never get the mental aspect of the game right and the moments where he made plays was purely on athleticism and not technique, something which fails in the NFL majority of the times.

He needs serious coaching if he ever lives up to the hype he got when he joined FSU. Teams did not select him for a reason until the 5th.

Great athlete, bad football player.

Spot on. I don't see where this thread came from. I assume it's just the case of people pointing fingers after a loss without any real idea of what's going on on the field. Anyone who says Watkins should start right now over Davis/Coleman is well, you know, not too bright.

Coleman was an awful player last year who was fired by the Texans. We got him off the scrap heap for minimum wage. How could we have expected him to be any good for us?

And Davis' hitting and aggressiveness is great, but that horrendous angle he took on Portis' TD run was as bad as anything Watkins has done on a pass. I still can't figure out what the hell he thought he was seeing on that play.

Bottom line, we've gone one more year of ignoring a postion we knew we had big problems at. I just don't understand it.

Did you see the Portis run, or the Cooley TD. Whose fault was that. How about the ong pass by ARE?

Davis and Coleman can't takle anyone or take bad angles. They haven't been beaten deep like Watkins was because they haven't thrown deep on them. But the middle was wide open all day long on Sunday. Plus, Watknis is a much better specail teams player than Coleman.

We sign an alcoholic, over the hill, friend of Bill, who was cut mid-season from the lowly Texans, hasn't played a down of football in over a year and we are surprised he plays poorly?!

Cut the bum and play a combination of Davis and Watkins.
