Having worked in this league for a number of years, I fully understand how injury can take its toll on your squad during these training camp practices but I have to admit as disappointed thatJay Ratliff and Anthony Spencer have missed the majority of these practices, the injury toMorris Claiborne might be the one that has me struggling the most. I am not here to blast Claiborne for not being on the field because he more than showed his toughness last season fighting through all kinds of issues but with the new scheme and missing the adjustments in it through practices and preseason games just bothers me. If Claiborne was a nine year veteran and dealing with the constant wear and tear that players go through, I would totally understand but he is just in his second season and for some reason that just doesn't seem right. I hope I am wrong about that.

I'll admit to being a little worried about this as well. No one has ever actually said what the injury is and my understanding is they have never even done an x-ray or MRI. Now that we are a week into this with no definite timetable for return....

Broaddus is not always right. Claiborne had a great year last year for a rookie and hasn't missed a regular game yet this year. So what he got dinged up in training camp. That guy is clown.

It's preseason... what is the point of losing one of your top corners in preseason?

I actually like Broaddus and respect his background that he brings to the table, but this kind of double talk really bothers me. By writing this, he is in fact calling out Claiborne.

Having said that, this is a big year for Mo. His average rookie year was underwhelming but I wouldn't say I'm worried. Perhaps the Rob Ryan system was too much for a rookie CB. But I expect to see him make strides this year to develop into a star. But him missing time right now while isn't ideal his hardly bothersome nor worrisome.

it would be great if everyone could make all the OTA's and participate in all of camp but thats far fom reality. players get injured and it's not worth risky more injury to have themm out there for pre season games.

We still have 3 preseason games to go no need to push anyone back to early.

Me too....I'm actually tired of the coaching staff player games as to what these injuries really are, and the time table to return. I know they need to keep things to themselves at time. As they cite "competitive advantage" r what ever.
But sometimes it's just BS to keep it from the fans and media.

How many times does a "we aren't concerned about it", "precautionary" turns into 2 weeks or 4 weeks...oh, needs surgery, 6 to 8 weeks....oops, on IR...

Yes it's a bit much, I may be stretching that, but trying to make a point.

Broaddus can report what he sees on the field, but logic is not his strength.

Isn't it the team that is holding him out? If so, I don't see how you can call out Claiborne for not practicing.

Broaddus pisses me off. I've actually got into him on twitter couple times. Just another media outlet being obnoxious

lol so you are the guy he talks about on the show, about some fan(s) on twitter.

That's what I thought the whole time reading his garbage.

Well, it is a serious question by me. Maybe I missed something and Morris is telling the coaches that he isn't ready to practice or something.

Anyone know if he is refusing to practice or is it just the coaches holding him out until his knee is ready?

This is the installation period for the new defense. Concern would be normal. It's not okay to miss large portions of camp. It's always a set back. If it wasn't, there'd be no point in conducting a training camp.

Some concern is normal. What's weird is Broaddus implying Morris is choosing to miss time.
