I was just about to post this one. I've long heard about the talent that the young man has, but that he was too much into joking around and not taking things seriously enough. It's nice to hear that he may be realizing the opportunity in front of him.

I wonder if A. Hardy getting in his grill after getting snarky or B. Just watching Hardy work like a son-of-a-gun has had any positive affect on the kid.

Still dont think Wilcox is a FS.

He needs to get it together because Jones and White could easily take his spot by the end of preseason. Especially if Patmon continues to look good at CB

I wouldn't put much stock into a report from Broaddus. He has been wrong way more often than he has been correct. Every year at this time we hear from him about players when we can't really see them. Once the preseason games start, what we actually see rarely matches up with what he had reported.

In general, he has expectations for players and then reports that is expectations are true. He probably didn't expect Street to get good separation before TC ever started.

If he ever made a comment in the past about a player, he tends to report that he was indeed correct. When he does change his opinion, he makes a big production about how he was originally correct but the player magically got better.

Broaddus wasn't on the Break this morning and I can't remember exact but Nick Eatman was saying positive things about Street and that he was showing more speed this year. You really can't tell with these guys sometimes.

To be fair, I kinda thought the same thing. Devin is fluid but he doesn't have quickness or speed thus he gets no seperation.

I don't pay attention to Broaddus takes on skill position and secondary players.

That is my point. It is believed that he has these issues; therefore, Broaddus is just going with the established narrative. He probably saw 1 or 2 reps were he didn't get separation and that's all it took for his conclusion.

10) It's been back-to-back practices where Davon Coleman has shown up. Before camp I questioned his desire to be the type of player I observed in college and portions of last season, but it appears that the light has come on. Coleman has been powerful and difficult to handle -- against both the run and pass. There has been more praise in his play from Rod Marinelli, and in talking to some scouts, they have noticed a change as well.

Davon Coleman definitely caught my eye in Training Camp Live yesterday.

Chuckles won with quickness on one snap and overpowered Travis Frederick on another.

He has the skills.

But will Coleman remain mentally engaged?

Tomorrow? Next week? Next month?

That's the challenge.

Coleman coming through would great for the middle.
All those kind of surprises that were written of
Claiborne is another that comes to mind.
Randle hasn't been written off but its been a wait and see on him.

I'll never forget Marinelli putting chuckles vs SDs 1's in last years PS opener. Got his butt whipped pretty bad but next week he started using technique. Some people you cannot tell at first, you have to show. Well he was shown.

If Wilcox loses his job, it will be no secret why, though, given his background as a receiver and running back, it has been somewhat of a surprise. The guy quite simply is a liability in coverage, particularly TE's.

I didn't realize that he lined up as a RB in school. It probably won't ever happen, but his size and good enough speed intrigues me at the RB position.

Listening to Talking Cowboys it sounded like Coleman and McClain look very good.

Sorry, no mention of the Golden one Nick Hayden.

I'm starting to wonder if this is the year he gets pushed off of the roster?

With all of the positive reports on Coleman, Terrell McClain, and Jack Crawford, as well as the position flexibility of a guy like Mincey, and the number of DE's they're likely to keep, there might not be enough roster spaces left.

Much like cornerback vs safety - where I think they go heavy at corner and light at safety due to the position flexibility of Byron Jones and Corey White - they may go long at defensive end and lighter at defensive tackle.

He only played defense in his final year of college.

Has anyone heard anything about former Longhorn DT Chris Whaley yet?

I am not sure if it was 1 or 2 years at the college level, but he did play RB at one time. He made the switch to Safety in his final year of football. The thought early on was that he could be converted into a ballhawk given his offensive acumen, but that has yet to materialize. He is actually closer to Roy Williams than he is Darren Woodson, which would be fine were it not for the fact that the same thing could be said of Church.

As far as him making the switch to RB, I'm not sure he would be an improvement over what the Cowboys already have. Antwaan Goodley, the rookie receiver the Cowboys picked up out of Baylor on the other hand might be worth a look in that capacity given his ideal size (5'10" 220 lbs) and speed (4.4 40 and 1.56 10 yrd / former track star) for the role, but even then I'm not certain...and I'm certainly not an expert in these matters.

Today on the break, Eatman and Broaddus were both on. They talked about the young WRs. Nick said he talked to a personnel department guy or scout. That he ranked the wrs with Street way higher than any of the young guys. Then Lucky Whitehead as the top rookie and that was just as a WR not as a returner. Then they had Greenberry and Goodley tied with Farmer last. They may of mentioned Harwell but I can't remember for sure. Harwell would most likely be ahead of Farmer since he was named as last.

Devin Street - BUST

It appears that every time I watch Devin Street run a route, he is fighting to get separation and more often than not it’s just not happening. You can see that he is working extremely hard with his technique, but he just hasn't been able to find that space that he needs to operate.

I never liked that pick

I don't think you can call a fifth round pick a bust. In the fifth round just getting a contributor is a good pick most of the time, so I wouldn't say that cutting him makes him a bust from the Cowboys' perspective
