I dont think they take a RB with their first pick unless Gurley is there and they think he starts the season on time. The other three positions I could easily see.

i disagree so much i didnt see out problem with getting to the QB an outside edge rush problem, it was a middle rush problem. and its not even close, i mean the packers game was so much proof, Rodgers was "stepping" up into the pocker every drop back even on the 7 -8 step dropbacks the DT pass rush was pathetic last year and we were lucky to not get exposed badly due to a well coached Defense. Im sorry i just dont get this i guess its cuz i dont get to watch the practices, but on gameday the middle pass rush is Horrid

I like Carl Davis but I'm not 100% convinced. I'd rather pay Paea who has 6.5 sacks as 1T in Chicago last year and played for Marinelli, or go get Suh.

A blurb I read on walterfootball of Davis during his senior bowl week:

One player who has had a mixed Senior Bowl is Iowa defensive tackle Carl Davis. He has displayed a nice skill set with strength, size, and a burst. However, Davis has flunked the team interviews. He has said he didn't work hard in practice at Iowa because he was going against young scout team linemen and he didn't want to risk injury against some overzealous underclassmen. He told teams that he should only play about half the snaps in a game in order to be effective. Teams felt he came across as very arrogant and lazy. Davis is going to need to turn that around before his Combine and pre-draft visit interviews.

I agree. They would have to be blown away by a RB to go there in round 1. I still think that a CB might be the BPA at 27. There are some good ones that might slip some or some 2nd round types that could improve their stock enough at the combine to move up into the late first.

Whether it is their choice going into the draft or not.

I could see the best player, by a good amount, being left on the board at their spot (if they stay put) being a RB compared to other positions.

This would open up that war room to see if they take the best player available (which could be by a significant margin) over a position of need or trade down.

Going into this fa and draft I want defense defense defense. However not at the expense of passing up a very good player for a player they feel is of a lesser quality for a position of need.

So...it is not my wish or desire for them to go into the draft and get a RB with the first round pick. It would be my desire to get a quality DE or DT with that pick...but if that means reaching for a Kavika Pittman or just getting BPA who could turn out to be a heck of a RB for years...I will go with the RB and not be upset.

I do NOT want to see the team pick a player because he plays a certain position. We need defensive impact, but I'll take impact anywhere over defensive "depth."

Not picking the bpa cost is Shady McCoy and let him fall into the laps of of a division rival meanwhile leaving us with a dumpster fire of a draft

Very true.

The good thing is, since that draft Dallas has done a phenomenal job of taking the best players available.

2010 - Dez Bryant and when a player Dallas had ranked as a first rounder fell to them in the second, they pulled the trigger (Sean Lee)

2011 - Tyron Smith and then again, when a highly ranked guy fell into the second, they took him (Bruce Carter).

2012 - The Mo Claiborne trade was obviously not great for Dallas but he was the highest ranked player remaining on their board so they followed their board even if the move up was ill-advised. Tyrone Crawford was the highest on their board in the 3rd as well. Plus the players they liked had the trade not happened (Brockers and Wagner) have both turned out very good.

2013- They didn't like what was there in the middle of round 1 and moved back taking their highest ranked OL at the end of the round (T Frederick). Obviously a good trade in this instance. I do believe that Escobar, Terrance Williams and J Wilcox were all three at or almost at the top of their board when they picked them.

2014 - Martin was their top guy left and they did the right thing. Lawrence was the highest left and they made a trade to go get him.

Recent history shows that we don't have nearly as much to worry about these days when it comes to draft decisions.

EDIT: Last year they even mentioned getting free agents at the right spots so that they could take the BAP when the draft rolled around. With Dallas taking an OG in the first when they so clearly needed defense, this staff has proven they'll take the best available.
