  • Usual suspects - Dak, Jerry, etc - will get blamed but defense was terrible and Saints scored on EVERY drive which quickly made the Cowboys one dimensional team
  • Saints play a lot of base defense to take advantage of teams relying on nickel and dime defenses.
  • Overshown is not in the base package. Liafu, Clark, Kendricks.
  • Maybe Zimm needs consider Overshown and his speed more in the base but anyone watching film will be disappointed in Overshown. Overran a lot of plays. Rookie blues.
  • All LBs looked bad including Kendricks, but Saints blockers were quickly getting out there past defensive line and LBs can’t hang with that.
  • Cowboys DT group in trouble. They are bad. Linval Joseph and Phillips can’t play. Maybe play Mazi some more because he had some okay plays but he looks bad too. Phillips not same player was last year when I watched him. Gone downhill.
  • Saints are a great team. Terrific blockers. Smart offense. They trap, get guys stuck inside, take advantage of defenses to mask their own deficiencies.
  • Tank and Parsons were both fooled a lot. Thought they were getting one blocker and then double teamed.
  • Yes, Saints did a lot same plays they did with Panthers but there is only a small window on their new offense to watch.
  • A lot of ‘one of those days’ plays. Dak interception caused by Brooks slipping on the route, otherwise probably a big play.

The Cowboys need to get serious about fixing the DT position some year. It's been an ongoing problem since Glover left. Until it's fixed the defense won't be fixed. Paying Diggs, Parsons, Bland.......none of that will matter. Time to put some quality capital into the DT position.

OK so 2 weeks in and we already know that group is in trouble. So what's the plan going forward Front Office? What is the GM doing about it? What's the HC doing about it? Because it's clear that group is holding the team back and will prevent them from winning against good teams again this year. Other FA's? In season trade? Or we just riding it out until the off season?

LOL.

DTs are a problem.

Who woulda thunk that?

I can't tell if Jerry/Stephen are stupid or stubborn but their total neglect of the position is weird. Yeah, they took Mazi but he struggled as a rookie so why not give yourself some insurance?

The D tackles are being pushed right into the laps of some pretty skinny LBs. It's sad to watch them defend a basic off tackle run against good offensive lineman.

My big concern is with the failure of Mazi the Cowboys will not draft another DT in the first round for another 30 years.

They had a chance to sign several quality DTs this year but their philosophy is to do nothing there.

I would give Jospeh more time. He missed camp and has to play himself into shape. Phillips was with the Giants so he should already be in shape. I disagree with Bryan that he was any good last year. He wasn't. And the Giants knew he had nothing this year. I actually think Carl Davis or Justin Rogers would give us more at DT than Phillips. But it is only 2 games. Maybe he can turn things around.

I also think Overshown has to be playing more. It is not just his speed. He plays with more aggression than the rest of the Cowboys and maybe that will rub off on some of the other players. They need to be more active and aggressive on defense. They are too soft.

Brooks looks like he is one of those guys who looked good in preseason but in the regular season he falls down, literally. On Dak's first INT, if Brooks keeps his feet, he is in position to catch the ball that was picked off. It would have been yards and a first down. I still think Flournoy is the guy who should be on the field. He looked good in preseason because he ran great routes, not because he was playing scrubs.

so but it isnt any thing the Saints did,if they had watched any film then they know how to KILL this D since we didnt replace the biggest weakness we had for 15 years and that is the our DTs.the sad thing is we are stuck with guys who have one foot in retirement and other who just suck.Thisis Jerry and that idiot Stephen's fault, how wish those two were gone.

Ravens play physical but they have issues along the OL and they only have 1 true threat at WR in Flowers.

Lamar's scrambling ability is my biggest worry.
have to account for andrews and likely though, as well.

Get ready for another blowout.

Harbaugh is angry and his team will be fired up.

Cowboys will get slapped in the face, and ask for more.

Well it’s not going to get any better. Ravens, Atlanta, SF, and Philly a couple of times. All punishing running teams…..
5 solid losses right there with multiple more to come from the Lions, Steelers, Texans, Bucs, and Bengals.

Usual suspects will blame everyone but Dak. Jerry built this team and created the culture. The whole team was bad from the top down including Dak.

no money to spend on serviceable DTs and jerry ranks them low on the totem pole. Old fat guys and assorted sprinkled draft picks next year are what's in store. A year late and 20 million dollars short.

Look at Daks cap hit for the next 5 years. Next year it's almost 90 million. Over 30% of the cap. They will have to restucure Daks contract and kick the can down the road. Wait until Parsons contract. The cowboys are not going to be able to add talent. The Cowboys will kick the can down the road and will be paying these guys when they are long gone. Without any championships to show for it.

Their plan was for Mazi to be a quality DT and it isn't working. Joseph and Phillips should not be getting the snaps they are getting. Neither have been playable for a while

Unfortunately the ship has sailed to have even an adequate DT group. An in season trade like Hankins in 2022 may help a little, but not enough. And thats assuming there is one to be made. No the only hope for improvement is in season improvement from Smith
