that was pretty much my point for the thread. does claiborne have that attitude and passion to continue to improve and reach the high level of play that everyone is expecting from him? broaddus sort of alluded to him not having it...at least not on the level of dez when it comes to preparation leading up to games.

Mo hasn't impressed

It's pretty obvious what Broaddus is alluding to. Claiborne has a lousy attitude. Look at how he handled his poor play in the media -- he blamed the scheme. "I'm a man corner not a zone corner blah blah blah." That is a loser's mentality. No matter how talented you are, when your first reaction is to fix blame before fixing problems, you will fail at this level.

The stuff with his mentality is concerning, but I think the expectations have to change.

Even if he was a top pick - and you can go back and forth all day about whether it was justified, I for one, liked the pick - the idea of a true cover corner is just not realistic in today's game. Even when you have good coverage, receivers go up and get the football and DBs are helpless a lot of times. After Revis, who has gotten beaten some this year, who is a true shutdown guy? Sherman gets beat. Peterson gets beat. WRs are just better than CBs all around, to think that Mo is a bad player or a bust is wrong, at this point in time.

The thing I still like about Mo is that he does have good ball skills. Its hard to see all the time, but compare him to a guy like Scandrick and tell me his ball skills are not great.

I agree with you for the most part, but Scandrick's play has been night and day better than Claiborne's. It's not even close. I don't care about ball skills. That doesn't win you games when you can't stop the other team from moving the ball, as last week's turnover differential proved.

He's a bust. If he ever gets his ish together, that label can/will be rescinded. But for now- a bust.
Would be nice if he weren't- he and Carr coulda been the top CB tandem in the league, and likely we wouldn't have allowed 329 yards to one single receiver last week. Hope he gets it together.

Ya know. I was thinking about this after the game. Obviously Carr is the best DB on the team, but I can imagine Claibrone giving up more yardage that Carr against Megatron. I wonder if something about Morris wouldve given Johnson atleast a little more trouble.

If Carr covers Calvin 10 times, he only breaks 300yds once. This was more on the coaches and safeties than Carr himself.

Scandrick's play has been light and day better than Claiborne? I remember a lot of people mad that Scandrick got resigned with the second contract he got and there were a lot of people saying Scandrick sucked on his first contract here.

Clairborne looks bigger/taller- imo, supposedly with 'ups' (in his college highlights, at least). The spec say Carr is bigger but I'm not so sure about that. If he lived up to that potential, he'd have to be the better suited db for a giant like CJ.

Wow the same was said about Terrence Williams that he sucks. Look at him now. Could it be that Mo needs more time to develop?. Guy has been riddled with injuries, and it is too early to right him off.

I get the same feeling BB has. Obviously I have no idea, but to me it seems he doesn't have the drive to be great. Going back to having minor injuries linger the entire pre-season and now using those as excuses for bad play. We just missed on Mo, to this point at least. It happens. Sometimes you make great deals and get Frederick and T Will

Mo is hurt and CB's are the primary position that need health to be successful. they rely on speed and agility to do their jobs more than any other position. WR's know where they are going to go, CB's have to read and react...any injury is going to affect their ability to be successful....I am willing to let him get healthy before I label him with negativity...he was playing better before the injury...

except for that 80 yard bomb that pretty much sealed the deal at the end of the game to a nobody wr. Don't get me wrong.. I like Scandrick but please don't act like he doesn't make mistakes too.
