I hated the pick when they made it, but I really thought he would turn into something worthwhile. Right now he's Mike Jenkins without the Pro Bowl season.

That is giving him a lot more credit than he has earned.

The stuff with his mentality is concerning, but I think the expectations have to change.

Even if he was a top pick - and you can go back and forth all day about whether it was justified, I for one, liked the pick - the idea of a true cover corner is just not realistic in today's game. Even when you have good coverage, receivers go up and get the football and DBs are helpless a lot of times. After Revis, who has gotten beaten some this year, who is a true shutdown guy? Sherman gets beat. Peterson gets beat. WRs are just better than CBs all around, to think that Mo is a bad player or a bust is wrong, at this point in time.

It is not about getting beat. It is about being consistent and making plays. Sherman does that. Peterson does that. Claiborne does not.

And as far as "expectations" go, I would hope you have the hope that the cornerback you spend two premium draft choices on produces at a high level by this point, or that he even shows promise.

Scandrick's play has been light and day better than Claiborne? I remember a lot of people mad that Scandrick got resigned with the second contract he got and there were a lot of people saying Scandrick sucked on his first contract here.

Scandrick did suck on his first contract. Always a step behind his man and never locates the football in the air. This has been his best season by far

This is not hindsight
Many of us were against giving up what was given up to pick him and many of us wanted to go DL with our own pick

we were told that he is the 'next deion' and the 'best defensive player in the draft'

My concern with Mo is he has never passed the eye test in the two years he has been in Dallas.

I've never once seen a play where I thought to myself:

"Wow, look at the closing speed of #24" or

"Man, look at those incredible ball skills on #24" or

"Look how physical #24 is with the WR" or

"What a shockingly athletic play by #24".

I don't deny that injuries have held him back and I <hope> I am hope my hopelessly amateur eye for CB play is failing me, however, in summary if I hadn't been told that #24 was a high 1st round pick and I was just watching him on some other team I'd think Mo is as average as average can be for a NFL CB -- maybe even less so.

Now it is 'suggested' that Mo won't be back until after the bye.

I'm optimistic about Mo, but this is getting old with such a young guy. Hopefully he gets through this, cause some thought TNew was a bad pick so high but so far Mo is looking worse.

He does have alot more ability than some think here, but he has to start showing it on the field and he can't if he is never out there.

It is almost shocking how he has been unable to flash.

He's not the first rookie to battle injuries, so I am not buying that as an excuse. Take Sean Lee. It was fairly clear, very early in his rookie season, he was a playmaker.

Oh, well, since you're being a pompous doofus, do you even watch any other NFL games besides the Cowboys? You obviously have no clue what you're talking about.

I'm not the one that replied with 'Huh?' like you don't know what I'm talking about. That is about as pompous and doofus as it gets. I watch as many NFL games as I can and Janoris Jenkins, DeCastro are not better players or haven't performed better than Claiborne. Since you feel they do fine, wonderful for you. I don't. See how that works. You have your opinion I have mine. Or maybe you don't know how that works. What I've seen from Jenkins is him get waved at by Golden Tate as he was scoring and getting into verbal altercation with Steve Smith as he's scoring. DeCastro doing a fine job. He missed all of last season and this season his team is 2-5 and has no running game

He's been playing a lot better the last couple weeks, so i will curb any criticism. I fear he will turn out to be one of those players who no matter how well he plays people will still say he sucks because the first season and a half of his career.

I haven't giving up on Claiborne yet. Yes he isn't having good year but when healthy I think he can be a good CB, most likely won't meet most of our lofty expectations though.

Well, in hindsight it would have been much better to have kept Mike Jenkins at a minimal salary and drafted DT Brockers and LB Wagner. But, all teams have decisions which they wish they could do over.

Most here and pretty much the general consensus at the time was that it was a good trade. So far, it hasn't been a good trade and is not looking very promising. No use crying over spilt milk.

No, two wrongs don't make a right. Just because Claiborne isn't working out doesn't mean Jenkins was actually the answer. I was fed up with that pouty *****.

What made him so special out of that draft. What about him stood out so much?

Physically? He's kind of the same makeup as Joe Haden, but a little better.

Haden went 7th overall in 2010 and is a top 10 corner with top 5 potential.

Please. It's a ridiculous assertion. Plus, you've completely left out Michael Wagner. Did you finally realize who he was? Jenkins' rookie season alone is enough to argue he has outplayed a guy who is now the 3rd corner after losing his starting spot to a guy the team had every intention of cutting next season.

Who the heck is Michael Wagner, LOL? You mean Bobby Wagner. Anyway so what I left him out. My main point is I still believe in Claiborne and I don't think those players mentioned have performed better or significantly better to make me choose them over Claiborne. Again my opinion, your opinion. I'm freaking beyond tired of defending that from you when it isn't worth my time.

wagner was runner up for DROY award last year.

decastro is a lock for the pro bowl this year.

we can debate on jenkins but i can at least appreciate the aggressiveness he plays with. i've seen nothing but passive soft play from claiborne in 2 years.

Claiborne is also have the age Newman was, too.

JK. I loved Newman. I know that won't be popular here.

And I agree, Claiborne is off to a very slow start to his career. I hope he can turn the corner. We desperately need that.
