ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Browns are giving serious thought to naming Brady Quinn their starter and that it could happen in the "near future."

Mortensen says the original plan within the organization was to wait until the Browns' Week 7 bye to install Quinn, but due to Derek Anderson and Charlie Frye's poor play, his time could come much sooner. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Quinn in there for Week 2 versus the visiting Bengals.

The Browns are expected to re-sign free agent Ken Dorsey by Tuesday.

Paul Ernster is likely to be released to create room on the roster. Dorsey's addition will give Cleveland four quarterbacks. It's uncertain what this means in terms of who will get the start against Cincinnati next weekend.

I'm not complaining because I want the number 1 pick in the draft, but why? Their other QBs suck, but they really don't have even a decent team to put around them. Why would you risk really screwing up Quinn because you're impatient or suck?

He may amount to nothing at all, but at least give him a chance of success.

I'm not sure how you can properly evaluate a QB in Cleveland. That offensive line couldn't block anybody.
