clutts is a 20 play a game guy who helps on ST.
byrd would have been inactive and awaiting an injury to get on the field.

byrd is a better overall player but he was far less likely to get on the field.

murray runs quite well behind a fullback in the limited snaps that occurs.

Exactly. We could have cut Clutts and brought him back on the PS with zero problem. And could have called him up at any time. Everyone knew that Byrd wouldn't make it. Stupid move.

also worth noting how much success JFF had with a huge WR in Mike Evans at TAMU.
Byrd isn't Evans but he is a really big target.

Actually it doesn't. Because I don't think the team has any chance to compete this year. If the roster decisions were made entirely on contribution this year, riddle me Dustin Vaughn making it.

I'd rather spend the roster spot on a player who might be able to play down the road over a complete JAG I can pick up off the street at any time like Clutts.

That may be so. But whenever we put a FB on the field, we're basically announcing to the defense that it's a running play. Not sure how often the FB will be used on passing plays, or if he's any good at pass protection.

I think this team is pretty confident in its ability to find wide receivers... DL and OL not so much, but they do well uncovering WR's.

Byrd is behind players younger than him.
He is the same age as Dez Bryant.
Street is 23 and an outside long WR.
TWill is 24 and an outside long WR.

Bryd is 25 , an outside guy who was undrafted yet spent two in Arizona before ending up on now his 3rd team.
He was a collegiate back up.
He is a big-bodied tall WR but he also can't help you on special teams so Dallas couldn't get him to the game.
Beasley and Harris are specialist type WRs but you can get them to games.
